Our 14 year old worn and yellowed but structurally sound oak cabinets got a facelift. The space feels larger and much, much brighter! We used rustoleum kitchen transformations in linen, unglazed and espresso, glazed. The project took us 8 weeks. Still have floor to do but so happy the cabinets are done!

I spent a week at the Gritti Palace in Venice (Italy, not California and wanted my (much smaller! bedroom to have that feel. That Venetian room was full of rich fabrics, textured walls and murals. My house was built in 1928, so I already had the textured walls. The rest I did! I'm particularly pleased with the cabinet that is masked by a large mural. My mother had done a painting of water lilies which already was in the room, so I based the mural on that. The other paintings and rug defined the color scheme and there is a subtle, unifying theme of lilies throughout. The duvet is polyester so my dog can lie on the bed without damaging it. (That's the most important thing! It's really the dog's house -- I'm lucky he lets me live there at all.

While we love the size, storage and layout of our kitchen -too many years, kids, dogs and festivities have left it broken, worn out, cracked and saggy. But not for long!

We moved into a fixer-upper with a 1970's interior. Everything in the kitchen was dated and dirty! We were on a tight budget and didn't have much experience in remodeling but through a lot of internet study and a zillion trips to Lowes and Home Depot we were able to work our butts off and turn a 70's disaster into an old world traditional kitchen with a tuscan flair for under $5000.00. With the exception of the french door installation we did every bit of the work ourselves.

I'm moving into a new apartment (after getting married on June 6th! Woohoo!! and need help choosing a wall color for the living room. We're interested in creating a mono-chromatic contemporary color space. Names & brands of paint would be great...and references to specific rooms on ratemyspace that have possible color options would be fabulous! :

Casual, yet elegant kitchen with lighted glass cabinets, large island, and beautiful tile backsplash. Contrasting island and hood in mocha finish. Range hood is framed behind kitchen island with two drum chandeliers. Touches of elegance are the deep rich colors, contrasted by the medium taupe-greys in the tiled backslpash. The backsplash over the cooktop has crushed glass tiles as the frame, with casual patterned tile as the backdrop. Hand-painted pottery and Bohemian crystal carefully arranged in the lighted cabinets, give the feel of casual elegance.

This is my finished basement. I designed it from cement floors and walls to the completed project (almost complete! I have used faux finishing techniques all throughout and have done most of the finish work myself including the doors and trim. I used only water-based stains paints and faux finishing products-all low VOC and environmentally friendly!

Our newly remodeled kitchen started with the wash machine going out. We ended buying a new washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove because Sears was having a sale with the more you buy the bigger the discount. Then we decided to try Cabinet Transformations by Rustoleum in Cabernet color and then decided to update the rest of the kitchen. New floor tile, Typhoon Bordeaux Granite, and Travertine backsplash. All done for under $ 13,500. We saved alot of money doing refinishing the existing cabinets ourselves.

The first pictures are my old kitchen. I was tired of the sunflowers and the clutter. I wanted to add some color with the red wall and red small appliances. I went with the black and white laminate tile floor. The stainless steel appliances are wonderful.

Before, room had old oak cabinets, stained and nasty, pink laminate countertops! PINK!!! The walls originally had wallpaper on them and the appliances were ORIGINAL appliances, except the dishwasher which was replaced after Huricane Katrina. We put in Maple cabinets (Pre-fab from lowes, did the countertops ourselves with tile and the flooring is now a ceramic tile that looks like hardwood. We found the mosaic piece closeout at a flooring store that was going out of business for only $100!!! I know it's not for everyone, but it works for us. We still have a little touch up to do in this room, but it's SO much better than it was!

Before & after pictures of my kitchen. The house was built in 1986 but we purchased it in 2000. The kitchen had been decorated in an apple theme by the original owners. After we moved in someone commented that my kitchen had an "80's Country Woman style" so I knew it was time for a change. Due to a limited budget so we focused on opening up the space & updating appliances & other essential elements. In the future we'd also like to replace the flooring.

French doors from our main entrance living room lead into the small dining room of our 1920's brick bungalow. The dining room has a built in cabinet and an old entrance was turned into an enclosed green room in the 50's. We refinished the original hardwoods in the dining room to add warmth and had new clean ceilings put up to cover the old popcorn. The wall art work was made by me and my husband.
