I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter's nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to "Gray and Yellow" theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl's room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and 'thinking too much'. I think I was able to get to it finally!
I got my inspiration from all the beautiful projects that have been submitted already. I had previously done my son's room, and I also wanted Ayana's room to be as pretty as she herself is.

This Gray & Yellow West Elm inspired room was for my daughter's sweet 16. I still have many ideas to finish off the room but my daughter has asked me to STOP messing with her room. She saw a photo in West Elm that had this look. We both love the calming and sophisticated look of her new room.

My bedroom used to be a plain bedroom with beige walls and no wow factor. By adding a little color and using items I had left over from my spare bedroom, I created a space that I just love and don't want to leave!. It's the perfect balance of clean lines and simple decor, without busting a budget. I already had all the furniture, and many of the accessories. All I needed was a new wall shade, and some fluff (bedding, pillows, wall art. Color is from Benjamin Moore-Chelsea Gray (though I didn't have a store close so I took the swatch to Lowes and had them color match it. Loved the color so much I've painted our rec room the same shade and may do my boys' room too. It's the perfect shade of gray, with beige undertones to match my beige bath.

green bathroom sink and tub fm the 1950's will have to stay for now, along with its friend, "mr. yellow tile", But what can be done to update the main bath to make it look "FRESH" and have POP? See what you think of the changes.

Our Townhome was built in 1980. It's 900 sq ft. Decorating our Living Room on a Budget.
*UPDATE!!!* We moved our sectional sofa against the wall and separate the other half to have open space. Then, we painted the wall to light gray, got a side table, a bigger coffee table and added table lamp & pendant lamp. We replace the picture frames on the foyer area with mirror.

My master is living proof that you don't have to sacrifice style to stay within your budget. My furniture was all picked up on the side of the road and given new life. We painted all of it and added new hardware. My bedding came from Ikea and the curtains are made of an old sheet. This room has been a labor of love and I'm proud to share it.

This space is constantly evolving. I recently painted the walls "Tornado Watch" by Valspar - it's a gray/green color. I'm trying to incorporate a bit more white into it and eventually want to get a new area rug.

Yellow, and light gray walls surround this tween room, and pink and black accents My daughter is full of sunshine and smiles, and I wanted a room that showcases that.
The black mini chandelier finishes the space, along with hand-painted art pieces, and a creative touch of "contact paper" to decorate her closet doors and dresser. I wish her room were bigger, but of course that I can't change! She is also a "collector" of "stuff", so there is more "stuff" in the room than I would like. But, I needed to let it be her room. :

The house was built in 1956 and we moved in just under a year ago. This full bathroom is on the main living floor; there is a full master bath downstairs. All tile and fixtures are original; all we changed was the wall color and added the accessories. Before the yellow the room felt cold and cavernous. Not any more!
