  • My 1950's kitchen, Our entire kitchen is covered with pale yellow and brown tiles. While it is keeping with the character of our 1920's home, I would like to update this space somehow. Our cabinets have been painted white but I'm not crazy about the hardware and would like to update our cabinets without getting new ones...possibly with a bright fun paint color?, Kitchens Design

  • Dark Nightmare, This is a small kitchen that has black cabinents and a white counter top. It also has mixed match black and white appliances. Not very functional or entertaining with a family of 6. Tried to put handles on the cabinents to make it alittle more appealing, however, it was a issue by the kitchen sink where the dishwasher opens. , Kitchens Design

  • My before and after kitchen, Gutted the original low end builder's quality kitchen that the original owners did not renovate. Used brown lapis granite for the counters and yellow river granite for the island. 18" travertine tiles on the floor with a tiled medallion installed by the sink. Tumbled marble backsplash installed and pendant lighting installed. Small lights were used over the leg of the island which includes the stove so we didn't want hanging pendant lights in the way., Kitchens Design

  • Victorian Charm in Maine, Our living room is Victorian style in keeping with our home's design. The furniture is all auction and flea market finds that my wife and I TLC'd and re-uhpolstered. Most of the accent pieces and art were also auction flea market and antique store finds. My wife Mary Anne has an amazing eye for style design and color. And if it's on an old home I can make it look pretty again. Mary Anne points and says "fix it" and off I go!, Living Rooms Design

  • No Cooking Groove , The house was built in late 70's with yellow on the counter tops as well as in the floors. The stove has 2 of 4 burners that work & no replacements can be found. The oven bit the dust just in time for Christmas.

The cabinets are as dark & deep as a dungeon. With my simi-large family of 5 & I ,who loves to cook, I NEED something better then this. My freezer has to live with the washer & dryer cause it won't fit on side of the refrigerator due to the out-dated sliding glass doors hidden behind the blanket.

The walls were dark blackish brown but, I did manage to paint them light cream, & I cut a huge walk through into the living room. Which does open up the space a lot more then it use to.

Any suggestions on how to go from this to better/functional would be greatly appreciated!! , Kitchens Design

  • Kitchen Renovation, Dreary and Dark becomes Sunny and Bright, Welcome to my kitchen renovation…so glad you stopped by! The before picture says it all…dreary dark and stuck in the 80’s with the beige-colored formica counter tops and backsplash. You can’t see it in the photo but a previous homeowner had managed to badly melt the countertop in two spots. (LOL) Definitely time for a change! :-) Hope you enjoy the new look and I'd love for you to come visit and leave me a note at:, Kitchens Design
