  • King Arthur's Spool Table, This project started out with a giant wooden spool. We poured the patio with a hole in it (for the table--the hole included a drain for rain and power for lights and a blender) then we dropped in the spool and covered it with travertine tiles that we broke and ground down to smooth the edges. The accents are granite. How much did it cost? About $300. Most of the travertine was scrap (amazing what you can find when you go dumpster diving)., Patios & Decks Design

  • Desert Oasis, This yard was a pile of dirt when I bought my house. Now it is my little desert oasis. The water area is actually a "spool" (smaller than a pool bigger than a spa). Out here in Palm Springs CA we enjoy it to cool off!, Pools Design

  • wooden suffocation!!, We are bears hiding in our wooden den. We don't know how to make it flow with the rest of the house with all the wall pannelling and parkae flooring. We are in a den when we light our wood burning fireplace because there is little natural light coming into this room and the light from the fire bounces and reflects off the walls. We need help desperately to know where to begin, how to make the flooring in our rooms come together, where to start and stop the panneling etc is painting this much panneling through the rooms like trying to cover a bad zit with makeup? It;s still there just a different color? please help!!, Living Rooms Design

  • Living Room in 1934 Cape Cod, This room had a LOT of wood stained in Colonial Maple. We wanted to keep the feel of the 1930's by keeping the color stain on the wood ceiling and walls true to the original. I used an olive taupe wall paint color to help balance the orange in the wood color. Then I used varying shades of gold fabrics to distract the eye from the orange. I like designing rooms that look like they have evolved over decades and have old souls. , Living Rooms Design
