I wanted to create a beautiful space for my first little grandchild Kenzie. I wanted it to be very feminine but didn't want it to be too baby-ish. Shabby Chic was the perfect answer! It works beautifully as her nursery and yet will work for her for several years to come. It was definately the most fun I've ever had decorating a room!

I wanted to create something pretty comfortable and classic. My talented father-in-law built the round crib and changing table out of Maple. My mother-in-law made the classic white and pink round crib bedding with sheer white ribbon ties. I am still looking for something to put on the walls around the crib (or above it. And I'm still looking for something on the wall above the changing table. Any suggestions on those two things are welcome!

Instead of repainting the bedroom for my first born I decided to use the original brown walls as my starting point. I found the pink and brown bedding and thought the black furniture gave it a more modern feel. The letters and painting were all done by me.

This nursery was the first room I really designed and was truly a labor of love! My mom and I created almost everything ourselves...the rest of the items were ordered on Etsy. I really like unique items and tried to stear clear of mass produced nursery bedding and decor. I originally chose the owl theme thinking how unique it was, but quickly found out how popular owl decor is now!
I originally wanted to paint the room a bright aqua color, but then I found a wall decal that I loved and wanted to showcase that. Not sure if you can tell from the pictures but I had the ceiling painted a pale blue color instead. I am open to any suggestions and/or questions! Thanks for looking at my space! :

This is my front walk up. I made the letter to look like a wooden piece, our initial. The topiaries I made also, hoping they don't look to homemade... saved a boatload of money, those things are pricey! I already had the pots, got them at Cracker Barrell for 10 bucks each...yes, the restaurant! And the lanterns I've had in the garage for ages and they clearly need a bit of sprucing. We created the look of the front entry around having the tall topiaries under the lights. Maybe they need a little bit taller?

This is my 4 year old daughter's room. I decided not to go with the traditional pink or purple walls and go with a color called Summer Picnic from Home Depot.

I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter's nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to "Gray and Yellow" theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl's room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and 'thinking too much'. I think I was able to get to it finally!
I got my inspiration from all the beautiful projects that have been submitted already. I had previously done my son's room, and I also wanted Ayana's room to be as pretty as she herself is.

Our nursery has a tan / brown / blue color theme with white accents. The crib and dresser are solid mahogany with an oak finish. Striped walls are done in a satin finish paint.

Not the typical pastel nursery. I wanted a black and white nursery for my 4-week old daughter's room, but wasn't sure about the wall color. I didn't want pink, but ended up with pink anyway! It is more of a salmon or melon pink. The room also has damask and polka dots.

This is my daughter Kylee's new bedroom. For her 7th birthday she wanted me to redecorate her room with a budget of $100. I did go over budget a tad but I was able to do it all (minus the daybed which was mine when I was a little girl for about $160 total. I made the valance and my Mom made the pillows. The two boulster pillows on the bed were actually made from a flat sheet that I already had.
