My simple and elegant kitchen. It has wonderful white glazed cabinets with brown quartz countertops. The island and buffet cabinets are espresso with White Delicatus granite. Floors are wide plank espresso stained oak. Backsplash is tumbled marble in a subway/diamond pattern combo. The layout includes an attached eating area with built in buffet and wine cellar.

This is our master bedroom that we just finished remodeling. If you look at the BEFORE photo this is a BIG transformation from my previous decorating style in this room. TOTALLY inspired by the cool hotel like bedrooms I've seen on RMS. Thanks for inspiring me--my husband and I LOVE this space.

Cozy screened in porch. I did not want to use a rug here as we get rain (and even snow! right through the screen so opted to do a stained "rug" pattern.

We are slowly (and frugally! trying to change our builder basic first home into a place that feels more like "us". We are on a tight budget, and recruited talented family members to help us along the way. In the kitchen/dining area, we ripped out the tile and replaced it with antiqued maple floors, painted the cabinets and added under cabinet lighting, added additional trim work to the cabinets to make them feel more custom, upgraded the appliances, replaced the builder basic faucet and lighting fixture, added crown molding and wainscoting, painted and replaced the curtains.

This deck was originally the roof of a covered porch. I enclosed the porch area and made it into a third garage and then I put a rubber roof on it. I built the deck on "sleepers" and it just floats on the roof. The wood is a Brazilian hardwood. I added a cable railing and installed new patio doors in place of the old windows and door to give it a contemporary feel.

My granddaughter had chosen her colors purchased bedding & a MM poster when I started looking on RMS. We'd like to credit "I LOVE my dorm" as you'll see we got ideas from her. We hope she is flattered. We also added many other touches to make a drab room pretty comfy and cozy.

After talking with a number of friends, I decided to makeover a room with a $500 budget!
The feedback that I have received is truly appreciated! I've done my best to answer questions received and be as detailed as possible in descriptions to hopefully inspire other to complete a "Master Makeover with Minimal Money".

the latest evolution of my living room in my 1924 urban cottage. you can view my older postings and follow the evolution in this space. the room is about 12 x 20 and is the largest room in the home. the front door opens directly into the room at one near the stairs to the second level. I used sheer linen drapery at the stairs, as well as furniture and rug placement to create a sense of entry separate and yet one with the living room sitting area. the room flows to the den and the dining rooms. the room has functioned well for small parties of 6 friends, as well as the first floor hosting cocktail parties for over 40. while the space is not large there is a desk space for serving (and keys/sunglass drop off, as well as 2 seating groupings. the color palette is minimal using black and white/off whites. the neutral space is a restful backdrop allowing guest, art and music to become the energizing force.

Our second daughter is due February 9 and we couldn't be more excited. This room was done on a budget and I used/repurposed as much as I could! We love how it turned out!

Little girl's room painted in pink stripes with coordinating harlequin focal wall. Everything done on a shoe-string budget! And it was a very thin shoe-string.
