  • contemporary deck, This deck was originally the roof of a covered porch. I enclosed the porch area and made it into a third garage and then I put a rubber roof on it. I built the deck on "sleepers" and it just floats on the roof. The wood is a Brazilian hardwood. I added a cable railing and installed new patio doors in place of the old windows and door to give it a contemporary feel., Patios & Decks Design

  • Making My Apartment My Own, When I moved in it was a typical apartment and I had typical 20 year old college furniture. White walls and Ikea everywhere. I spent a month or so designing the entire space on a 3D program, making changes, getting inspiration everywhere I could find some. Many of my furniture I found on Craigslist for a bargain and it was either painted or otherwise refurbished to fit my space.

When I moved in the space where my book case exists was just an empty recess in the wall. Obviously I had to build a bookshelf in there.

I installed the picture frame molding myself and swapped all of the light fixtures and wall fixtures.

The light above the dining table was a CL find. I painted it black, extended the chain, omitted the shades and crystals.

The china cabinet was a $100 CL find. Built by the original owner's grandfather. I painted it white with a grey back on the interior to offset white china.

The fireplace was a $50 CL find I painted it white, added a wood medallion, and built an enclosure on the back so the fireplace would not be open to the wall making it a little more realistic.

The mirror above the couch is a beautiful mercury glass mirror from around 1900. My dad found it in an estate he bought. He painted it white and gave it to me as a gift.

Couch, rug, dining set, side tables, and accent chair are new., Living Rooms Design

  • Charlotte's Pink Eclectic and Sweet Nursery, Since the moment we found out we were expecting my brain went to work on the nursery! When we found out we were having a girl, I knew I wanted a modern chic room that was sweet and girly, but not "baby-ish". I scoured the internet (thank you, ETSY!) and pulled together what I feel is a beautiful nursery for my little girl! The room is calming and sweet, not too busy, and functional without being messy.

We just love it and hope that she'll look back one day and feel the love we put into each and every detail (:, Nurseries Design

  • Baby room with a modern touch, This is going to be my second baby (due 11/05/08) and I wanted to design something different for her room something totally out of my element - MODERN. My color design for the room are pink and green as the main colors and brown as the accent color with cherry blossom and giant leave murals on the wall. The letter "L" will be my baby's first initial. Enjoy., Nurseries Design

  • Rustyn's Nursery, All elements of this room were hand crafted. The moon, stars, cow, and boots were cut from wood, routed, and hand painted. Rustyn's name was made from rope and mounted to the wall, and the fence was hand drawn and painted on the wall to give a three dimensional look., Nurseries Design

  • New roommate on the way!!, We just put the finishing touches on the room today and are happy to say it's finished. We weren't able to find a lot of wall art we liked so everything you see we made/painted, except for the monkey painting on the wall shelves. For the race car track, we just painted a couple large canvases and added a stick on race track that you can configure any way you want to. We also have a cute pillow under the window with a similar race car on it that pulls the two together. The other canvases incorporate numbers and letters that are also on the bedding in the crib. Across the the canvases you can see we spelled out our baby's name and just at the least second, we went back and did the 1, 5 and 6 in brown to pull in the brown from the other features in the room as well. For curtains, my wife found a couple bed sheets we liked a lot so she hemmed the bottom of them and there you go, inexpensive curtains that look great. I bought the stainless steel curtain rod to pull together the stainless steel on the bottom of the legs on the crib, dresser and wall shelving brackets too. The chair in the corner came from my office and was originally natural wood colored. I gave it a quick sanding, primed it and then painted it the brown we see throughout the room. My wife did the same thing with the bookcase under the window too. Our goal when putting this room together was not to make it overly baby looking, but we did want an obvious baby look with a little more modern feel to it. We had a blast putting the room together and I think we accomplished out goal. Now we just wait for our new roommate to arrive!!, Nurseries Design

  • Enzo's navy blue room!, This is my son's big boy room.
I wanted a place a little more grown up than plastic toys all over the place.
The stripes were realy hard to do, but in the future we can give the room a nautical theme.
In the near future I like to see crown molding and a side table :)
Thanks for looking!, Boys' Rooms Design

  • My Colorado foyer!, This is the foyer in our Colorado dream home high in the mountains. I designed the heated floor with honed copper slate and the stream running through it is of black pebbles trickling away from the fountain. The ceiling is barrel vaulted heavily textured and is painted in a metallic copper paint. Walls of windows allow this room to act as a warm welcome and a 'bridge' between our public and private spaces. Welcome to my home!, Porches Design
