Our Living Room with its central Fireplace and entertainment center. We chose stained concrete floors, culted stone for the fireplace, reclaimed pine for the walls, reclaimed corrigated metal for the ceiling, and reclaimed timber for the rafters.

I am proud to show off my new and improved kitchen finally! We knocked out a huge pantry and expanded the kitchen to add more counterspace and cabinets. The problem was we could not find a match to our old 1980's cabinets so we started looking in the paper for used cabinets in hopes of finding the style. After almost a year we finally bought basic cabinets at Lowes and since we could not duplicate(and did not want the dark finish I decided to faux paint them woodgrain to match our floors. The grey is Valspar tinted primer with antiquing gel applied and the woodgrain is also by Valspar with my application of gel and paint to look like wood. With our son's help this project cost less than $2,000.
Luckily, even though I would like a new countertop my old counters were still available to match. The tile backsplash was only $165 to do! The pulls are twig and leaves from Lowes. I wanted a woodsey kind of look (even though I kept all my tins so I handpainted branches with birds and squirrels along the top of the tile. We bought new lighting with leaves for our three lights and the middle light is an old window with the fixture secured underneath. The new cabinets have a faux arch to fool your eye into thinking they match the old ones...my husband routed out the drawer fronts to match the old ones...we think the result is pretty good...what do you think??

A family space that is used for television, entertaining lots of people. It flows directly to a huge deck for the over flow of people. Very simple and plain.

We just got stranded bamboo floors and I really feel like the space has been jazzed up. I like clean lines but also something that is cozy and has a wow factor.

We're starting to put this game room together and need your help! The tile around the fire place is an awful orange and doesn't fit with anything else in our home. We're thinking of staining it as a cost effective approach to knocking the tile out entirely. We're not sure about colour for the stain or the walls... all walls are white and desperately need personality. The mantle is natural wood and doesn't match our dark wood floors. Any thoughts on colour for the fireplace tile, walls and ceiling, and mantle?

This is the room that would typically be called the formal living room. We are casual and have young children. I think the space is well suited to our lifestyle. It is a perfect space for conversation or to curl up and read a book. After dinner parties we generally circulate into the space for after dinner drinks and dessert. I still need to change out the previous drapery. It is not my style. It does match to some degree so it has been a little farther down on my to do list. I'll get them done, hopefully this year. Enjoy and thanks for looking!

Our dining rooms plays perfectly off of our formal living space. It is a mix of formal and casual, which fits our lifestyle. I have many pieces that I love in our space. My furniture is more on the casual side. It is paired with a perfect chandelier, beautiful artwork, and a stunning rug which ties the room all together. The drapery in the room came with the home. I intend to change it out later this year. It has worked and blends in with the space. The color pallet in the space is very relaxing and makes for enjoyable dinner parties. Enjoy and thanks for viewing!

This is our kitchen. It overlooks our sunken family room. I wish several things were different with our space but we live with what we have. I think I have made good use of the space. I don't like clutter and keep my counters free of it. I do like our counters and the back splash. I also love our kitchen table and leather chairs. I put glass over the wood the protect it. I have three little ones and it makes clean up much easier. I know it isn't very pretty to look at. I also have two boosters for my twins at the table. I have matching chairs that they will graduate to someday. Our curtains are a new addition and add some color and fun. They coordinate well with our drapery in the family room. Enjoy looking. Thanks!

This kitchen breaks the typical mold by gently curving around the room. A moveable island defines the space in the open concept house. Originally the house had this galley style kitchen, with a partially melted microwave and a kitchen drain that simply emptied onto the ground below. To open up the space and create a more functional work space, I created an L-shaped layout. The kitchen isn't very large, so in addition to creating a beautiful space, maximizing storage was crucial.

This kitchen is uniquely Californian with deep Spanish roots. Arches, iron, wood beams, wood floors, wood cabinet and rich yellow the color of warmth combine to make a vibrant and functional kitchen and adjacent family room.
My husband and I rescued these cabinets from being thrown in the trash. We sanded, stained, added new doors and hardware and modified them to fit our kitchen and installed a new back splash. We got the granite at a wholesale outlet, the sink and faucet on sale at Lowes. The biggest cost was refinishing the wood floor after we discovered it under layers of glue and linoleum. Our kitchen was low cost, lots of labor but worth it! PLEASE VIEW ALL PICS AND GIVE US YOUR COMMENTS...we welcome them! The BEFORE pictures of our kitchen can be viewed under lifetimedvd1 pictures. THANK YOU!

Open to our dining room and kitchen, we tried to divide the spaces with furnture, but keep it cohesive with an overall Italian look/feel. We recently replaced the horrible mauve plush carpet with a wide plank, rustic wood laminate that looks FABULOUS!

The condition of the wood floors in my 1950 cape cod are horrible,The previous dwellers apparently breeded dogs but I am determined to have wood floors. So far I have only done one room and because of all the stains, could only do them in a dark finish.I would just like some opinions as to whether they look good enough to continue through the rest of the house. Thanks

Our home does not have a formal living area, just this large living room that opens into the one eating area and kitchen. We just put in the wood floors after Hurricane Ike and added the sectional sofa to accomodate our large family.
