Since the moment we found out we were expecting my brain went to work on the nursery! When we found out we were having a girl, I knew I wanted a modern chic room that was sweet and girly, but not "baby-ish". I scoured the internet (thank you, ETSY! and pulled together what I feel is a beautiful nursery for my little girl! The room is calming and sweet, not too busy, and functional without being messy.
We just love it and hope that she'll look back one day and feel the love we put into each and every detail (:

Bedding on clearance from Bombay Silk Drapes (clearance also from Expo. Oh I almost forgot the items on the wall above the headboard.....placemats from Pier 1 ($30 total. Thanks.

Our 1920 house had the original kitchen and an under-used addition, which some call a three season porch, adjacent to it. We began the renovation by replacing the old jalousies with energy efficient windows and door. To help blend the two rooms, our contractor removed as much of the shared wall as possible. The original plan was to take down the entire wall; however, our plan had to be revised when we discovered plumbing inside that wall. Our contractor helped us contain the cost by custom building more kitchen cabinets to match the existing ones. This also gave me lots of additional storage - who doesn't love that! Bead board was installed along the breakfast room wall and at the ends of the cabinets. We had a local artisan make the wrought iron towel bar/pot rack. Recessed lighting was installed in both rooms along with honed "Jerusalem Gold" limestone countertops and "Saltillo" terracotta tiles (set on the diagonal. We visually joined the two spaces by using the same materials and colors throughout. It was a challenge to put a "new" kitchen into an old home. We wanted it to look as if this renovated kitchen was original to the house. Having our contractor custom build more of the old style cabinets helped retain that look. My husband and I have traveled to Tuscany together and were inspired by the earthy colors and rustic textures of that landscape. We kept this in mind when we were making the design choices as we renovated this space. In conclusion, we are pleased with the result.

My daughter and I created this Tiffany-inspired bedroom on a budget. This bedroom was originally my sons and after he moved out, she moved into that room. We had the mattress and that was it. We needed to create the whole room on a budget of $500.

We recently moved our 3 1/2 year old into our former guest room to make room for another baby. We let her "pick" her colors - she said pink and blue. This is what we came up with! A room definitely done on a budget!

The interior of my space / house is 80% Shabby chic Style with white furniture the light always reflects beautifully and makes spaces seem much larger and brighter. Ive nearly finished the house in Shabby pallet but it's a long but enjoyable process. Our homes exterior is very modern so when you step inside you definatly get a feel of having just walked into a cottage My blog- http://mandiiweir.blogspot.com/

The walls in this room originally had 50 year old drywall over them but we ripped it out and exposed the horizontal slats of wood underneath it. We chose to only remove the drywall on the wall behind the bed to really make it a feature wall.
