Our kitchen needed a long overdue update. We had maple cabinets with formica. I have always loved flowers, the ocean, baking and dainty things. I am also a disney nut, hence the tinkerbell. This all inspired me, and after alot of research I decided upon a country look. My hubby painstakingly painted the cabinets, and a family friend also a master cabinetmaker made our custom island and the hood above our microwave. I tried very hard but could not stay away from the marble countertop. I am an avid baker and looking forward to lots of baking in my kitchen. My daughter and hubby use the stool we have at the island to be with me or help me while cooking. Love my new kitchen! Just waiting on new outlet covers and a rug for under the table.

This project was designed to bring back subtle details from the 50s and 60s era of Âmid-century modern but keeping it a completely modern update. With a simple yet complex palette that brings a great sense of drama into such a small space that was once very sad and dark.
The space was designed to allow the flow of people from one space to another without interfering with each another. It denotes unique features such as a floating island bar top that spans nearly eight feet unsupported as it dies into a wall of shiny glass tile. The design was set to involve multiple senses other than just seeing with your eyes, touch is a large part of this kitchen. It has large seamless granite slabs that are leather finished to give off a warm and very unique texture.
This space truly is a complete transformation, bright and light.

When we moved in to our new house, we found a very white kitchen. While functional, it didnt have any personality. We have now added color, new stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops to add some warmth to the room. Enjoy!

My kitchen/Great Room is wonderful, I love to cook so it has plenty of space and great appliances. Eco friendly it has FSC solid Teak floors, quartz counters, recycled glass backsplash and energy star appliances and lighting. My friend did the glass mosaics and husband & friend the teak bartop and trim. Cabinets are painted maple-yes it is bright, but I love it!

Finally got rid of the kitchen I never liked to a kitchen I love. Guilty pleasure...the foot kick in the island for my central vac. No more bending over with a dustbin. Please share your comments. Brutal honesty is appreciated.

This contemporary kitchen was inspired by a Candice Olson design. There is a light and airy feel to this space because it opens up to the dining room but it also has 2 french doors that open up to a beautiful deck that adds living space outdoors. The wall colour is a Sarah Richardson colour by Para and the cabinets are Ikea. The two granite choices add interest to the space by complimenting the white and dark wood cabinets. This budget conscious kitchen is high on style even though it is low on cost.

Instead of complaining about how unhappy I was with the look of my kitchen, and even more disappointed with my budget of $400. I was able to save ALOT of money by repurposing items from storage and other rooms.
I used Rustoleum Liquid Laminate paint to resurface my faux- marble look. It comes in 16 different colors.
I had really good wood cabinets but it was too dark in my kitchen because there was only window and not a lot of light. I really wanted to brighten up the kitchen by painting the cabinets white.
Behr has this great paint and primer in one. After sanding the cabinets it really saved a lot of time.
I used the Simple Matte Tile Solution and the Simple Grout (which was pre mixed and mess free I used 1/4 inch tile spacers and GOT BUSY!
I changed the light fixtures and replaced them with silver pendant lights from ikea.
In the end we spent $414. I have to say that my kitchen is now my new favorite room in the house. If you dont like your kitchen you have the power and the resources to change it!

We'd love to put some work into our outdated kitchen but don't have a huge budget & would love some input on what to put our efforts towards. We love the red paint and have a black & ivory color scheme. Interested in painting the cabinets & replacing the countertops as well as possibly laying a lighter color hardwood flooring. Any suggestions on updates colors etc? What updates will we get our money back on when we go to sell?

Here are some before and after photos of the kitchen in our new home. For budget purposes, we kept the existing back splash and brown granite counter tops. And thank goodness the previous owner updated most of the appliances. Here is what we did....
- Installed hardwood flooring
- Refaced existing kitchen cabinets
- Purchased new stainless fridge
- Sanded down the gloppy venetian plaster and retextured and painted the walls.
So far, I've been very pleased with the end result. Much better considering we live in a traditional colonial home.

In the background, you see the microwave (with vent fan center. It has its own counter and overhead cabinets. My husband and I tore our kitchen out to the bones, then he rewired, replumbed and rebuilt to my vision.

Galley kitchen possibly from the 50's. White wood cabinets and counter tops that have seen better days. A lot of unused space that could use more storage.

We moved in about 6 months ago with the condition that we HAD to renovate the 25 year old kitchen. For relatively cheap, we bought new Home Depot cabinets, inexpensive granite countertops, added a pass through, and new wood floors.
