  • kitchen remodel: when the walls come tumbeling down before and after, we purchased this 50 y/o home last fall. most of the home with the exception of the kitchen had been beautifully renovated by the previous owners. we loved the house but hated the kitchen. as you can see in the before shots it was very tiny. we decided to remove the wall between the kitchen and formal living room to create an open more usable space for our family. we now plenty of storage lots of room to cook eat and visit. , Kitchens Design

  • Kitchen Mish Mosh, I have a small 1950s kitchen that needs to be gutted (water damaged wall due to old window, poor floor plan, inadequate storage--short cabinets and lost one wall to cutout into living room), holes in linoleum), but I can't afford a $10k+ makeover. I think I know what I'd like to do -- but I have a tight budget and want to get it right the first time., Kitchens Design

  • From Wall to WOW!, Our like-new home had a formal living room in it, but it was a very small dark box, so we decided to knock out the wall leading to the family room and put in French doors and built-in shelves and storage. What a difference it made!, Living Rooms Design

  • Why didn't we take that wall out years ago???, We had a small kitchen, small dining room in our farmhouse. By taking out the wall, we ended up with a comfy, spacious room that we practically live in now. Best of all, we were able to salvage a 100 year old floor buried under 5 layers of floor coverings. , Kitchens Design

  • Started a Kitchen Renovation! Need Ideas!, This is the kitchen & laundry area in our home. It hasn't changed much since it was built by my husband's parents in 1954. Since we moved in 4 years ago I've wanted to tear down the wall between the eat-in area and laundry area. It is a load bearing wall so our contractor just tore down the wall & has started building a bar. We will be moving the laundry room upstairs & want to turn it into a wet bar/pantry area. Our home is a Colonial Williamsburg style & our decorating is traditional., Kitchens Design

  • Don't be afraid to take down a non-load bearing wall to open up your kitchen! We did and we're glad! (Before & After pics), We never thought it would take a year to complete our small kitchen renovation but with the help of an uncooperative contractor it did! Now with the holidays approaching we can finally enjoy our new space. Working with a small space is challenging especially since we found ourselves having a long "wish list" of kitchen essentials. We found that by taking down a non-load bearing wall we really opened up our kitchen which gave us the counter space we sorely lacked., Kitchens Design

  • Julie & Lisa's Kitchen Remodel, This is our beautiful Kitchen. I got the inspiration for this kitchen from a magazine which featured the same glass tile and cabinets. The house was built in 1981 and needed a total kitchen remodel. We totally gutted the kitchen and replaced EVERYTHING! Including raising the ceiling from a 7 foot to a 8 foot ceiling. Put in canned lighting. Although it's hard to tell from the pictures the room is painted Toasty Gray (Sherwin Williams). We replaced the white tile floor with expresso color bamboo floor. Added maple white Shaker cabinets, "sand color" glass tile back splash, "gray/brown" quartz countertops (CesarStone), farm house sink, new stainless fixtures and all new stainless steel appliances including a little wine fridge.. We removed a load bearing wall that seperated the kitchen from the dining room. We also added a huge island in the center with 4 Tiffany pendant lights above. This truly is our favorite room in the house. We LOVE our new kitchen. Hope you do too!, Kitchens Design
