This mom wanted a sweet and serene gender neutral nursery for her first born. So, she painted the baby's room yellow - Behr Ultra in Moon Dance. The pine furniture was from Westwood Design, Cypress Point line in Honey Pine. The wall decals, from weeDECOR, are the whimsical tree with birds which were placed next to the crib and owls on a branch which sit over the changing table. She tells us her son loves looking at the decals when they are changing him and they love that the wall decals are made of eco-friendly fabric! The rug is the double border rectangular rug in Antique Linen from JC Penney's. The frog wall art and owl statue are from 2 separate art galleries in Santa Fe, NM where mom and dad vacationed before the little one was born.

60% completed so far. Remaining work to be done: doors and drawer fronts, backsplash, hutch and island unit, floor. Everything is handbuilt so progress is slow.

My living room walls are huge with high ceilings. Even my large paintings looked dwarfed by the wall. So I painted a large wall art graphic of seabirds that compliments the imagery in the my original Metaphor paintings. Adding tall glass decorative accent pieces gives height to the table and pulls the whole wall space together with a contemporary look. It now has the WOW factor.

My bedroom was in desperate need of some art and I figured instead of buying something that was probably too expensive and not exactly what I was looking for, I would make my own art with some stencils I already had and some new ones I purchased.

Two little princesses started with a plain light gray room. With the purchase of new bunk beds & new polka dot bedding, we needed something girly to jazz up the new space. We taped off horizontal stripes to coordinate, and the attached bath uses polka dots in the coordinating colors and the same princess theme. It uses bubble gum pink, lime green, light teal/turquoise, and tan/khaki. The wall of baskets was pricey but is invaluable storage for toys and such. The whole project was kid-friendly and fun and on a budget.

I couldn't find a shower curtain that had a designer look but wasn't designer prices, so I decided to stencil my own. I found my Ikat stencil at cuttingedgestencils.com and love it!

This is a retaining wall that I built around my patio to hopefully fix the drainage issues. Building it in the winter was probably not the best way to go. When I went to the home improvement store for the underlayment I was met with a dirty look and a comment of "that's seasonal". But as every DIY'er knows, when you get the itch to do a project you've got to do it!

We purchased our starter home two months ago, and as a design guru, I had a BLAST designing and decorating the rooms! This is the master bedroom, one of the rooms we painted, along with my daughter's room and office (please check them out as well. I stuck with black, white, and gray for the color scheme and it turned out very well!

If you saw my previous project, it was a Theater area located over a garage with a hip roof on one side. I created a "false wall" to hide the speakers and hang the projection screen.
It was a really great way to use this space but the basement is now nearly finished and I have carved out a cozy little spot that I can dedicate to the Home Theater and Audio Distribution equipment.
The plan is to have a great place to entertain as well as hang out with the new baby!Ihope you like it.

This project is considered one of the most exciting and unique residential environmental projects of its kind in the mid-Michigan area. This project is the first residential sustainability project in the mid-Michigan area that helps protect our water resources. The homeowners are very committed to doing their part to help the environment. They chose to undertake this project as a way to demonstrate and teach the mid-Michigan area, as well as the world how we can have a beautiful hardscape and softscape, but greatly reduce our impact on the environment. All of these Low-Impact Design (LID elements work together as storm water management tools.
The project features magnificent Allan Block retaining walls and decorative pillars encompassing the entire front yard and a set of beautiful, custom, curved steps at the city sidewalk. The downspouts on the front of the home were designed to drain into two gorgeous rain gardens filled with perennials and ornamental grasses. Belgard 'Subterra' permeable paver landings and walkways create the beautiful random cobblestone surfaces that lead you between awe-inspiring pillars through the front garden down a ramp to the permeable paver driveway. The front concrete city sidewalk was removed and replaced with permeable concrete.
This project broke ground on the morning of August 15, 2008 and was completed Saturday, October 4, 2008.
