We live in the city! Our backyard is another building. Except a small patch of grass in the front of our house...we have no yard at all! So we took over the roof! We planters in containers! The lower roof area is devoted to vegetable gardening. The upper area is for relaxing and perennial plants. Besides flowers we have fruit trees, grape vines and more! We have a seating area and a dining area. Eventually we will add a pergola for the wisteria and winter hardy kiwi vines to climb. We added a drip watering system this year!

The great clients of this gorgeous coastal estate allowed us to design their property in the same exquisite style and manner of their interior environment.
One of the major design components of this design is the grand and majestic Cabana that encompasses multiple functions and areas of luxury retreat. The Cabana has a luxurious restroom and shower, with an elegant changing room that even has personal lockers for guests to use! Also included under the roof of the Cabana is a large dining room, an opulent cook center, and a quaint fireplace room with optimum views of the ocean and coastline. Some of the other fantastic amenities include multiple pottery fountains, a fabulous pool and infinity spa, and large dining and lounge patios. Also included in this estate grounds is an area for the clients 'secret' garden, an elegant and functional citrus and vegetable terrace garden, and even a sheltered courtyard with a grand fireplace that is framed by matching elegant pottery fountains

This container garden is designed to be functional and to deliver the maximum amount of fruit and vegetables in a relative small area. The garden contains herbs, fruits and vegetables. All the fruits, vegetables, and herbs are used in the family kitchen. Excess fruit, vegetables, and herbs are given away. This garden is all natural. I have not used any pesticides. I have allowed my cilantro to flower, and planted other flowering plants to attract beneficial insects into the garden. The beneficial insects keep the pests at bay. I also have provided birds with a water source and I have put up a Finch feeder as well as two humming bird feeders. The birds also help to keep the insect population in check.

A few of My backyard gardens & my herb/vegetable garden. I am adding on this fall. I now have gardens that surround the 11/2 acres fence line. Because of the hills on property we put chain link fence and who wants to hide their gardens? I want everyone to enjoy what I do. I have made a few secrete gardens that will soon be hid and vines mixed with shrubs will help to cover fence in time.

We have tried small gardens before but it was in Texas and the heat got to the plants before we could save them. So we let the weeds grow. We are now in Kansas and decided to help counteract some of these crazy produce prices. This is a Square Foot Garden. It is an amazing garden method with NO WEEDS!

In the warm months we spend a ton of time out on our 2nd floor deck which is right off the kitchen. It's a great place to enjoy breakfast lunch dinner or a nightcap while taking in the skyline views. It's frequented by a lot of butterflies and birds all summer long. The roof deck wraps around our 4th floor penthouse and is where we have our vegetable garden and chimenea.
