  • Master Bathroom with a View, We recently (finally) renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper) and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable) master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!

feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled., Bathrooms Design

  • two seperate rooms, My vanity/sink area is in it's own area and the shower and toilet are in the next room separated by a pocket door. I wanted the vanity part to flow into my bedroom to match my dresser and the colors all to flow from one room to the next. The vanity was made from scratch and to be 39 inches tall as I am 6'1. The fixtures are all rose bronze and the doors handles/light are bronze. Mirror and light fixture match vanity. , Bathrooms Design

  • master bath traditional with a twist, we moved into this 50 year old home last fall. the master bath had been remodeled prior to our purchase but our attention had been focused on the kitchen remodel and we haven't until now really paid any attention to this room. the granite is so busy i just wanted to complement it and keep the decor kind of simple and clean. intead of the traditional glass apothecary jars i found some open glass jars for a more modern take., Bathrooms Design

  • Our tiny little Zen-ish Potty, We live in a 3BR, 1BA Cape Cod style home. With 1 bath we wanted to do as much as we could to make it a nice place to shower and get ready for work. Of course, it's not a huge master suite like we would like, but we think we did a good job with the small space. What do you think?, Bathrooms Design

  • Bath in the Round, It was a standard 8x5 bath with stick down cheap laminate flooring. Now, the dimensions are the same but the vanity was created from a re-purposed art deco dresser, the floor replaced with porcelain tile and the disco ball lighting replaced by a simple pendant lamp, the wall to wall white paint, made mint providing the warm glow so desperately needed., Bathrooms Design

  • Main Bathroom, This is our only fully functional bathroom - for a family of five. The fixtures and decor are original to the house - not our style at all! The bathroom has a tub/shower combination, toilet, vanity with one sink, and a linen closet.

The way the room is laid out - when both the main bathroom door and the linen closet door are open at the same time, the knobs get caught on each other and it's difficult to get them back apart. The knobs have also worn holes in each of the other's doors. There are also two doors into this bathroom - one from the hallway and one that goes into what used to be the master bedroom. We've closed off that door and don't use it - partially because that's now two of our daughters' bedroom but also because we need the wall space in both rooms. Having that extra door seems unnecessary since the bathroom's right next to the bedroom anyway.

The flooring is linoleum, and in 5+ years I've been unable to tell if it's supposed to be yellowish in nature, or if it's yellowed from age. I also hate the caulking around the sink and along the tub, and the grime that I just can't seem to get rid of in all of the corners of the floor. My least favorite thing in the bathroom though is the vanity - the countertop is textured, and almost impossible to keep looking clean. Our bathroom needs help!, Bathrooms Design
