  • A Tween Boy's Hip Hangout, When we adopted our 3 year old daughter from Russia last year we went all out to create a space for her that was fem and fabulous. Now, almost a year later, it was time to do the same for our almost 13 year old bio son. After all -- it was only fair!

He longed for something hip and urban-edged. Even though the room is close to postage stamp sized, we noticed that his friends were beginning to gravitate to the room. So...we set out to keep it clean and fairly uncluttered (as uncluttered as a young boy - who likes to collect stuff - can be), modern and yet comfortable. The full-sized loft bed fits his almost 5'5" frame better than his old twin and frees up lots of space underneath to house collectibles and do homework. The lounge area on the other side features uber cool lighting underneath which casts a glow and illuminates the floor. The closet space was reworked. With doors removed, we painted it orange, installed interior rope lighting and hung metal ball chain curtain in the front. Lastly, his growing collection of bobbleheads finally found a home all together!

Update: After a huge remodel, our daughter moved into this space and it's now undergoing a huge transformation. Our son is now almost 16 and he lucked out and moved into the new addition. Check out his new room! We upped the anty - big time!, Boys' Rooms Design

  • Comfy tween room, My 9 year old daughter designed this herself. It is a bit cluttered for my taste but since she is in-between stage (not a little girl not a teen yet) she does have a lot of things from both worlds. , Girls' Rooms Design

  • Alexis's Updated Room and New paint sceme, Alexis's new paint sceme has three walls painted a lime green and one bright pink wall which we plan to place the head of her bed against. The green is a stunning color for sure. I think with the existing accessories we have, it will pull it all together. , Girls' Rooms Design

  • Fun, Bright, Tween Room!, A fun tween bedroom done in coral pink with a chocolate brown accent wall. The graphic floral sheet is PB Teen, and I coordinated it with a raspberry, coral, and white striped sheet from Target. The duvet cover is hot pink minky dot - so soft! The bedskirt was made from a striped sheet, and the valences were custom made from the PB Teen Chelsea floral fabric, edged with the stripe. I have light kits for the paper lanterns, but I want to make a platform to mount on the ceiling to conceal the wires. The bulletin board is based on the PB Teen 'Style Tiles' but I made them myself, including the custom colored chalkboard tile. The only tile I bought was the coral magnetic board. The chandalier is from IKEA. This is a bedroom for a 12 year old girl and she loves it!, Bedrooms Design

  • Tween Bedroom on a budget, My 6th grader was ready to "grow up" to a more sophisticated and fun space. She looked at magazines for pictures of what she liked and we recreated for less that $100. The majority of our budget was on paint bedding curtains and a new round mirror. We also got a new desk & chair at Ikea to punctuate the color scheme and give her some private homework space in the house. She loves it and it really just took a weekend., Girls' Rooms Design

  • Tiny Bedroom + TWEEN Girl + Itty Bitty Budget, Now that our daughter has outgrown the soft pink/green combo from years is time to tween-tweak the room! Note that this is a tiny bedroom, so we had to go for optimum storage. We didn't want to paint the walls, so they stayed the same, neutral color...and we amped up the volume of the accent colors. Peace, love, and happy tweendom!, Bedrooms Design

He loved these skull sheets, so we used the existing wall color and incorporated some black and grey bedding and curtains....2 black frames with white matting on the bamboo blind "headboard" add some drama to the space.... a quick and inexpensive update that my son loves! :)

You're welcome to drop on over to my to see you there! :)

  • A Room Fit for a "TWEEN", This project developed as a result of a few friends attempting a "While you were Out" room make-over. I took Avery's playful room and turned it into a tween room filled with function and feminine touches. • Lilac and purple teen room, My old room. This is what it was like after i changed rooms 3 times, swapping with my brother + sister. It was a pretty boring room. Not welcoming. I have now re-done my room and i love it! I shall post pics after i get the accesories. I wasn't allowed to paint all 4 walls for the makeover. Wasn't allowed to get new furntiture even though all my furnitiure was free in the first place :P. But i worked around that. I DID get new furniture :P. A cheap rail for clothes. A chest of drawes as my brother and sister are re-doing theres now and wanted these horrible ones for their rooms. A bookcase :D:D Crammed with books! I really can't wait to post it when it's all done!, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Lavendar Chic, Tween room with some challenges with a partially sloped ceiling and dormer. Low furniture and built-ins really make use of the space and allow for a open feeling. The pictures are in order if you stood in the middle of the room and turned around clockwise., Girls' Rooms Design
