  • Update on Faded Glory, We have painted! Siding, shutters and I had the front door painted red. The brick around the front still needs to be cleaned and sealed and I am debating on painting or staining the porch floor?

  • Dorm Sweet Dorm, This is my freshman daughter's dorm room. The color was inspired by a friend's gift that she wanted to include. We took that shade of slightly aqua blue, added some chocolate brown, and a few Asian accents to create her space away from home. Lots of pillows and an extra hanging curtain give a little more of a comfortable feeling., Dorm Rooms Design

  • Tiffany Blue Bedroom, When I redid this bedroom for my daughter, I knew I wanted it girly but not pink. I had a vision. I started out on the hunt for a 'Robin's Egg Blue' but ended up with more of a Tiffanny blue. I added the small chandy for a touch of girly.
My husband made the white 'boxes' that hold the tulle and white lights.
It still isn't totally complete, but so far we love it. , Girls' Rooms Design

  • Georgia Holiday Sparkle, Brown and Green Christmas decor with lots of sparkle. I've picked up the lime green tones we have throughout our home in our Christmas decor. Since our Great Room has a lot of neutrals and browns, it's a perfect foil. This year we were remodeling our Master Bath, so I was without a specific for my holiday decor. I decided to just throw it all at the mantel- brown ,silver, gold and white and it worked! I always look for inspiration from new items I tuck away from the after holiday sales! I hate paying full price for anything!, Holidays Design

  • Bah Humbug !, 2 weeks ago I posted pics of our mantle. My husband hated it, said it was too busy. Last night, while watching the bah humbug, The Grinch Stole Christmas (and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer), I changed the mantle using items we already had as I'm unemployed on a tight budget. You may notice the Grinch/Rudolph in a few pics with the TV (normally the TV sits on the mantle. We put it on a wall mount at Xmas so we can decorate the mantle). I used silver metallic tulle for the upper part of the fireplace and silver snowflakes on the bottom part (didn't have enough tulle). I put the nutcracker and trees in front of the TV to hide the TV wires. I added iridiscent sparkle snow over everything to give it a shimmery effect. I used 3 strands of beads I already had. I had a small fire burning while I did it. I continue to fine tune our decorations. By the time I finally get it right, it's time to take it all down, LOL, Holidays Design

  • small old 1.5 bathrooms... doing the best they can, If you are familiar with my work you know I don't claim to have the best of spaces, in fact I know they're far from great, but what I DO take pride in is my ability to work within strict space, financial and regulation limitations, as I move from one old rented space to the next. Here are my 1.5 bathrooms in this cool 1965-built highrise apartment where location reigns supreme over interior, which I rent, unable to paint or in this case remove old peeling wall paper and outdated vanities. My attempts to squeeze some lemonade have yielded this French cottage influenced full bath, and Jerry Garcia influenced half bath. After all you have to keep your home a happy place, right? These make me happy without breaking my bank or spirit. In truth I don't seek high marks (These are more fun than model, I know)... I just like to offer ideas to others since I have come here in the past for some of my own., Bathrooms Design

  • Pink Dreams and Chocolate Skies, This was one of my very favorite rooms that I have designed... This room was for a wonderful little girl who loves to paint and sing- I used a lot of her very own artwork in the room! This space is HUGE- so I made a lot of different play areas and spots to display and rotate her latest creative works..., Girls' Rooms Design

  • Midnight in the Fairy Garden, I am so proud of the Nursery. The pictures just don't do it justice because it is a small room and the decor is very busy. It was hard to get a good angle to catch things properly.
We moved into the house when I was 8 months pregnant so I had to work with the existing paint and carpet.
I reused lots of things we already had to design this room. The stars, flowers and ball lights are from our wedding decorations. I colored them for a softer light in this use.
The rug and knit blankets were all handmade by family members. The quilts were made by my mother in law. I designed and made the crib sheets and bumpers, (the flower and ruffles padding and curtains on the changing table are also crib bumbers hand sewn by me) the canopy hanging over the crib is tulle from the wedding as well as the tulle surrounding/tieing back the blackout curtains. When it comes time, I will remove the tulle from over the crib, lower the hoop a bit and hang the butterflies from the hoop with invisible string(probably fishing line). I will add some more vines filling the center of the hoop to block the direct light from the lantern above the crib.

I crafted the picture board on the wall above the dresser with a picture frame, some fabric and ribbon.

All the furniture is from second hand shops. The crib and changing table I painted white to freshen thm up.
My big splurge was the chandelier in the center of the room.

All the paintings were done by, and framed by myself as well.
The lighting in here is so fun! Most of the stars on the celing have blue light bulbs in them and provide a wonderul quiet light for us during the night when I will need to comfort her back to sleep. I cannot see in the dark at all and this will be so important to me AND it is beautiful! Unfortunetly I live in Alaska and cannot capture what it will look like in the dark until later in the year..

I enjoyed letting the creativity come to me while I was pregnant. I had so much fun designing this room!!

Prior to the makeover this dining room had no personality. The walls were eggshell and every corner was a clutter catchall. Now the dining room says "Wine and dine me!", Dining Rooms Design

  • Baby boy nursery decorated for Christmas, My baby boy's room is pottery barn blue creamy yellow and sage green. I have stars everywhere (also in big brother's room) so I guess you could say that is our "theme"! He has a little white Christmas tree that I decorated using metal stars ornaments of his initial "G" and white tulle., Nurseries Design
