We actually gutted this bathroom and remodeled it (when we had a leak and mold problem, We got a smaller and made the shower larger. We used travertine tiles, antique bronze fixtures, body sprays and a rain shower and vessel sinks. We used a lighter tone shade of the same shade paint and had molding installed and a custom built cabinet.

Well I designed this with the 2X3 piece of marble my customer gave me in Naperville IL. the modern flat black granite was not working in this traditional setting. Then the builder thought it would be ok to put a contrasting gold island top to set it all off.

Space Description: Originally my Grandparents 1970's "Vacant" home, I, a single 23 year old guy, bought my house in 2008 and it was a dump in need of a serious remodel. Though the projects never seem to be completly over, I demolished the entire interior of the house and things have turned out amazing. The most significant change made in the kitchen was removing the wall between the living room and kitchen. This allows there to be one large open concept space rather then 2 separate rooms.
Featuring Select 6x24 Veincut Travertine on the floor and a Classic Splitface Mosaic, uniquely found at Old World Stone Imports, people that come in the kitchen can't help but awe. The Counters are Blue Pearl Granite with a chiseled edge to tie in with the the rustic 3D Backsplash. A simple but beautiful trick that I have learned, when it comes to windows in the kitchen, is to simply frame them in Travertine moldings, in this case the Classic Alpha. This allows the window to appear almost as an ever changing picture.
I had custom Cabinets created so that they were designed exactly as I wanted them to be done. The main stain that I picked is also the stain used throughout the entire house on all of the moldings. This allows a simple accent that flows and creates uniformity throughout the entire house. On the island I chose to do a simple black wash to create a unique feature different from the rest of the kitchen as an accent.
After removing the horrible wallpaper I chose a simple yet traditional beige paint color. Once again this paint color can be found throughout the majority of the house. What do you think of me painting the Main Kitchen walls a classic Country Golden yellow? Though the deck door is not perfect I changed it from its 1970's green to a much more modern simple white doorway just by using some paint.

Newly renovated powder room begged for a 2nd shower for a family of 5 (4 girls. Being on the main level we needed easy maintenance for us yet elegance for our guests. The open top travertine wall with glass block insert allows light in the shower without the hassle of constantly cleaning a glass wall. The candles and curtain adds a spa like touch.

We had no room in this old bathroom which was in need of an update. It was like a tunnel when you entered. As you entered you walked by a built-in closet on the left, you couldn't reach the light switch until you were halfway in. The sink vanity was the 1980's style: took up valuable space of the room. The tub and curtain made you feel closed in even more, as if you were in a space of only 3'. The utility style door which offers no lighting goes out to the patio. It really needed a re-do. I was embarrassed for anyone to use this room. P.S. My husband and I are not professionals, we designed this ourselves, selected the colors and tiles ourselves, and did all the work ourselves. You can do it, just take your time and think it out, look on the web for ideas and get a lot of texture and color samples. We are glad we did.

This is my Master Bath...it's not finished but this is what it looks like so far. The floors are Marble and my partner created the Italian travertine tile design herself with a Stained Glassed Centered above the tub. It seems as though it took forever to finish but its 80% grouted and we are almost done. There is also a travertine tiled skylight directly over the tub that allows natural light to come in and hits the stained glass. Its also nice to take a soak bath at night and look up and see the stars at night.I love this bath!

This contemporary bathroom design draws on concepts of the zen lifestyle, including elements of calm, cleanliness, purity, and openness. Large-format porcelain tile in a warm coppery hue is accented with Scabos splitface and red pebble mosaics. The combinations of visual and physical textures with tasteful lighting and accessories creates a cohesive feel. A wall-mounted toilet adds European flair. This client worked with StoneMar Natural Stone Company in Cherry Hill, NJ to achieve this perfect custom look.
