  • Spa like on a small budget, from old and plain for 1,600, Spa like on a small budget, from old and plain. My son and daughter in law recently bought a new home. They asked me to redo their bathroom. They wanted shades of brown and that is what they got. It was a good size bathroom but it had a lot of wasted space. I gutted the room and while doing so I found an open space beside the tub in which I added a wonderful built in storage space. The tub was taken out and replaced with a shower. The counter site was moved to the side wall and doubled in size. The cabinets have tilt outs and the silent close feature. The cabinet on the right has a laundry shoot to the laundry room below. The cabinets and granite counter top were a wonderful find for their budget. They could have easily spent most of their budget on just the cabinet and counter top. The counter top is St. Cecilia with a beautiful edge and under mount sink. Everything in the bathroom is new and it was all done for $ 1,600.00. I love shopping for bargains. It really pays to shop around when doing a remodel.

  • Transitional Master Bath with Claw Foot Tub, Just finished the renovation on my master bathroom I replaced the soaker tub with a claw foot tub that I got for $90 because it had a little scratch on it that you can barely see! It makes the space much more open. I replaced the vanity with one I got on ebay ($900) which has a beautiful travertine counter top and 2 vessel sinks built in. I used brown grass cloth on the walls that looks like linen. Got the mirrors at Zgallery and splurged on the seamless shower doors. The lights, faucets, and towel warmer came from Signature Hardware. (They are online), Bathrooms Design

  • Poor Woman's Master Bath Facelift, The master bath was "redone" long before I purchased it and I've just started a cleanup/face lift with the extremely limited funds that I have. The original wood floors had "paneling" nailed to them UNDER ugly, black & white checkerboard vinyl tile. The walls are a white ceramic tile but they used some sort of drippy glue or something in lieu of grout. I have scraped the tiles with a razor, removed the flooring, repaired/painted the walls/ceiling, replaced the lighting, painted the vanity, and replaced all of the hardware except the faucet. It will be replaced along with the shower hardware. The tub should have been moved to the end of the bathroom to make room for a large shower. It needed to be raised as well so the pipes to the jetted tub don't impede into the dining room ceiling, which is why the dining room has a drop ceiling. Ugh. The whole bathroom is a DYI project gone really, really wrong., Bathrooms Design

  • Made for the Kids!, This is my upstairs bathroom designed for my 2 children. I wanted it to be fresh, clean, & reflect the kids. I used cream paint w/whilte chair rall & wainscoting. I purchased a white cabinet for $30 cut off the top & replaced it w/granite & an undermount sink. I found a fun mirror for $8. I purchased the accessories at pottery barn: matching curtain, mat, towels, & plates that I put on the wall for art. I used the same granite from the sink on the windowsill & over the baseboard below. I used fun blue title in the bath & white tile w/fun blue inserts on the floor. In order to fit the towels, I put them on the door & had the door swing out instead of the normal in to create more room. Finally, I used all crome fixtures throughout., Bathrooms Design

  • Almost there!, This kitchen is almost done. We have some odds and ends we think would knock it out.. but you tell us if you agree. Its a 12 x 20 space. Although we did not go stainless appliances, we went along with the black appliances that came with the home when purchased two years ago. The only thing we have done was add the backsplash.

We are looking for ideas on whether we should do cabinet pulls and crown moldings? Also, would you suggest a darker paint color on the walls to tie this all together? Suggestions, Kitchens Design
