  • Sun Room Remodel, Well this sunroom was a great selling point for me when we bought the house. I knew that I wanted to make it a great relaxing place. First up was removing the carpet yuck and replacing it with porcelain tile. Much better! Then from there it was paint blinds and decor. We love to sit out there and relax it is one of the best places in the house or out. :>), Porches Design

  • Our New Retreat, My husband and I just remodeled our screened back porch and turned it into a 3-Season Room with a Hot Tub. We did all the work ourselves including staining the ceiling laying ceramic tile and designing the space. It is now our favorite room any time of day. The morning sun (it faces East) warms it up for reading the paper; we can watch the critters from the nearby forest preserve and then relax in our spa by candlelight at night. We feel like we're at a luxury retreat!, Porches Design

I also have had it with bamboo blinds and without. next I think that I might put in some white sheer panels. We shall see. I have since purchased a few more accessories that are not in the photos but you get the idea. I love to watch the kids play outside while relaxing in this room. , Porches Design

  • Decorating ideas for a Three-Season Room, I would like some ideas on how to decorate a 3-season room. The room is approximately 22' X 15' with a large bay of windows and loads of potential. Currently this room is used for storage. I would like to use this room for entertaining, relaxing or just enlarging my living space. I want to enjoy the outdoors without those nagging bugs or the hot sun. , Other Spaces Design

  • Princess room for three, We lost our son and daughter in law in Oct. 2012 and found we would be sharing in the raising of our three grand-daughters. We wanted them to feel overwhelming love and have a magical place to just be little girls and let their imagination run free. The castle was born! We created this room with mostly recycled furniture and some wood and about 5 gallons of paint. We think it came out beautiful. Three tone walls, custom bed, and darling chandelier, make this room a magical spot in our home. , Girls' Rooms Design

  • Spectacular Outdoor Space waiting to come out of the closet, The back of our home has a huge roof extension covering the original deck with high, solid sidewalls, wasted deck space due to steps in the center and an open area that does not take advantage of the large patio just past the deck walls. There are doors to the deck from the kitchen and Master Bedroom. The current deck only utilizes 2/3 of the available covered space. We would love to install french doors from the kitchen, and rebuild the deck to take advantage of the entire roof-line, install an outdoor fireplace, a pergola over the open portion of the deck and wide steps to the patio below from the front of the open deck located off the master bedroom. The current enclosed space is dark. A four season space might incorporate screens and removable windows to take advantage of the seasons. Look at the space and give us your ideas! This future room is an extension of our kitchen/family area and is crying to be taken advantage of with today's possibilities!, Home Exterior Design

  • 3 sided fireplace family/living area, This is not a space for a mere amateur designer - fans out there, I DARE you to try to fix this problem! The 3 sided fireplace is a cozy option that splits a living and family room area. I love it and want to keep it. But I don't like the custom made entertainment center built-in and, er, chimney? Close ups are provided of the entertainment area to show the dust (and cat) collecting ledges. HELP! Can you solve this problem in a budget-tight economy? I've never seen you "fix" a 3 sided fireplace problem. I would like to keep the tea green color (with red and yellow accents) in the background, if possible., Living Rooms Design

  • REPOST: Great Room Needs Help to be Great, Room was previously posted before we moved in. Since we gifted our sons with most of our furniture, we almost started from scratch (blue leather wingback recliners are only previous furniture). I wanted to paint the walls taupe but my husband wanted to go bold, hence the dark blue/green walls. Now that we've lived with it awhile, we don't think it's right. Hoping to hear from you with suggestions to finish off the room, which still needs art over sofa, table in front of sofa (I'm thinking round) and something in the window corner., Living Rooms Design

  • Master Retreat, I wanted my bedroom to look and feel like a luxurious hotel, yet have a personality and warmth. I guess one would call it transitional, although I prefer a more modern look. There are old world elements mixed in, by necessity. I also took the liberty of mixing metals throughout by using steel, gold, bronze, and copper finishes. The chandelier in the dressing room feels elegant, while the three-way mirror reflects light back into the room., Bedrooms Design
