  • Kitchen, When I moved into this house, the flooring in the kitchen/family room was all ceramic black checkerboard tile. We couldnt change it, so we worked around it. We let the floor ground the rest of the work, so we went neutral with black appliances and honey maple Thermofoil cabinets. The countertop was specially ordered textured mica with specs of tan, black and honey. To raise the eye, I repeated the checkerboard pattern atop the cabinets and warmed the space with greenery., Kitchens Design

  • A Lime Green Kitchen, Once a 1960's relic, we renovated our new apartment's kitchen into a modern galley kitchen, using thermofoil Hanssem wenge cabinets, Brazilian cherrywood hardwood floors, stainless steel GE Profile appliances, Summit apartment sized stainless bottom freezer fridge, gray granite countertops, a glass and stone backsplash, and lime green walls. A custom unit was built to fit our small wine fridge. We love it!, Kitchens Design

  • Black Coffee, An ordinary white thermofoil builders' kitchen was transformed by expresso colored paint and a spoonful of imagination! We were less than pleased with the bland look and wanted an architectural change without massive expenses. To make the refrigerator look built in we added panels of MDF left and right and added a glass door cabinet above. Lighting was an issue so we built light 'bridges' to house touch sensor halogens to accent the work areas. We used Sherwin Williams PrepRite primer and the paint looks great and has not scratched!, Kitchens Design

  • I need help! What color for trim AND doors now! Thanks for Cabinet color ideas!, It was remodeled in the 1990's with a new cabinets and appliences. I have rebuilt the oven, replaced the fridge and mircowave. Stainless steel hood is on its way and a new dishwasher is coming soon. I have no idea what color if an to paint my cabinet and what color I should use for the countertops! I am thinking black cabinets with grey countertops? The walls are deep blue and the opposing wall is brown that goes all the way up the ceiling.

UPDATE: We have went with a nice grey for a more modern feel. I have replaced all the lighting with brushed nickle fixtures with albaster shades. We have decided to go with the cabinets with some helpful tips from everyone on this board. We were gong to do tealight on them but people said it looked to country kitchen which is NOT us. I am also installing three 4 inch canned lights above each entry way. One from the garage door, one from the backdoor, and one from the living room entrance. We are going to leave the blue around the cabinets but we are going to paint the rest grey.I am going to post the in progress pictures now. Any tips or hints would help! Thanks!
We also picked a light grey from the flooring for the ceiling and opposing wall - we are ditching the brown, to dark. DO WE PAINT THE DOORS AND TRIM TO THE CABINET COLOR OR DO WE GO WHITE? HELP! LOL ALSO what about taking down all the two light fixtures and installing canned lights?? what do you think?, Kitchens Design

  • Infinity Kitchen, This kitchen breaks the typical mold by gently curving around the room. A moveable island defines the space in the open concept house. Originally the house had this galley style kitchen, with a partially melted microwave and a kitchen drain that simply emptied onto the ground below. To open up the space and create a more functional work space, I created an L-shaped layout. The kitchen isn't very large, so in addition to creating a beautiful space, maximizing storage was crucial., Kitchens Design

We chose to go with Espresso finished cabinets from Kitchen Maid w/ undermount lighting. Tumbled tile backsplash w/ glass inserts and tumbled strip. New stainless appliances. Quartz coutertop. Brass light fixture has since been replaced with stainless steel 3 light. All we have left is to change the wall color. • Reclaimed Kitchen, My husband and I rescued these cabinets from being thrown in the trash. We sanded, stained, added new doors and hardware and modified them to fit our kitchen and installed a new back splash. We got the granite at a wholesale outlet, the sink and faucet on sale at Lowes. The biggest cost was refinishing the wood floor after we discovered it under layers of glue and linoleum. Our kitchen was low cost, lots of labor but worth it! PLEASE VIEW ALL PICS AND GIVE US YOUR COMMENTS...we welcome them! The BEFORE pictures of our kitchen can be viewed under lifetimedvd1 pictures. THANK YOU!, Kitchens Design

  • What A Dramatic Difference. . . Right? (Befores and Afters), Space Description: Originally my Grandparents 1970's "Vacant" home, I, a single 23 year old guy, bought my house in 2008 and it was a dump in need of a serious remodel. Though the projects never seem to be completly over, I demolished the entire interior of the house and things have turned out amazing. The most significant change made in the kitchen was removing the wall between the living room and kitchen. This allows there to be one large open concept space rather then 2 separate rooms.

Featuring Select 6x24 Veincut Travertine on the floor and a Classic Splitface Mosaic, uniquely found at Old World Stone Imports, people that come in the kitchen can't help but awe. The Counters are Blue Pearl Granite with a chiseled edge to tie in with the the rustic 3D Backsplash. A simple but beautiful trick that I have learned, when it comes to windows in the kitchen, is to simply frame them in Travertine moldings, in this case the Classic Alpha. This allows the window to appear almost as an ever changing picture.

I had custom Cabinets created so that they were designed exactly as I wanted them to be done. The main stain that I picked is also the stain used throughout the entire house on all of the moldings. This allows a simple accent that flows and creates uniformity throughout the entire house. On the island I chose to do a simple black wash to create a unique feature different from the rest of the kitchen as an accent.

After removing the horrible wallpaper I chose a simple yet traditional beige paint color. Once again this paint color can be found throughout the majority of the house. What do you think of me painting the Main Kitchen walls a classic Country Golden yellow? Though the deck door is not perfect I changed it from its 1970's green to a much more modern simple white doorway just by using some paint.

If you like any of the products show visit my works website and I would be glad to help you create the kitchen of your dreams. www.OldWorldStoneImports.com, Kitchens Design
