Living room with tall slanted ceiling with 3 recessed windows in ceiling. The ceiling slants all the way up to the second floor. We are keeping the furniture. The living room in our 110 year-old four-square house is the room you come into when walking through the front door. It has the original high ceilings and recently-restored windows. The challenge we face in designing this room is balancing seating for as many people as possible without cramping the relatively small space. We would like to find a way to seat people so the view is out the large windows however the room is full of doorways and is a main passageway through the house. We'd like to use the high ceiling to our advantage too, but are not sure how.

We have 16 foot tall vaulted ceiling with a fireplace going all the way to the top. The space is open to a burnt orange dining room with a joining yellow corn kitchen. We are thinking a dark brown for the paint color but are unsure if the whole space should be brown or have the ceiling a different color or a different wall an accent color. eventually getting khaki/tan couches. lots of light comes in. any thoughts?

I renovated this condo inside of a large rowhouse that was built in 1847. The previous owners had removed all the historical details like the fireplaces and fancy plaster ceilings to turn it into doctors' offices :-( When I bought the space it was a completely empty shell. But it did give me the opportunity to start fresh and go in a more contemporary direction.
