  • My corner of the garage, I needed a small space to store my riding gear so I cleaned out a corner of the garage to create a tack room/entry. The furnishings were collected from my attic and basement and the only cost was 34.00 for the wall mural. The rug has a few small rips but is still in good shape and is comfortable. The wood was left over cedar siding that we cut to frame the mural and make a shelf for boots. , Garages Design

  • Our descend to the bottom of the earth (house), If you have small children around you may ask them to leave the room, while you view these photos. Fifteen years ago my husband & a friend took on the task of upgrading our basement to a family room. The space is quit large. The remodeling was done when we had an old furnace. The duct work was so large that it made it difficult to work around & half the family room had no drop ceiling, just open to the flooring above. An extra half bath was put in. We were happy with that because we only had one bathroom. Since this half bath was installed it has become the bathroom for basically men. Summer when all the guys in the neiborhood are doing yard work they use this bath, becuase we are the only people that have one. Josh's friends also use it. I have dubbed it the Texico Station bathroom. It is Mikes duty to clean it. Our laundry room was enclosed with bifold doors, but still looks awful. Then you enter our garage. Our garage is not a functioning garage, unable to park a car in it. Our home was built in the 50's when people didn't own SUV's. It has become a catch all & studio for my son who attends the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, for audio & visual production. His hobby is making music. When he is not at school he lives in the garage. It's very cold in the winter. In the past two years we have purchased a new furnace with central air. Since this was done we would be able to increase the size and put real cielings in. The removal of our old furnace gave us this possibility. I have two adult children Jacquie 25, Josh 21. Three years ago my daughter blessed us with a beautiful granddaughter Oliana. Unfortunately the relationship with my granddaughters dad did not work out, he ended the relationship. Then the girls moved back home, along with two cats adding to our one cat. Our house is small & it would be wonderful to have more living space. Just a room to get away from each other. Our home is a very busy home. One moment Mike & I will be sitting relaxing, then the next thing you know the front door opens and we end up with a house full of people that are rambeling, talking over each other, the baby is running around pulling toys out, Josh's friends are chatting with us, Jacquies now fiance Gary has a very deep loud voice that tends to make every one talk loud. Saying that I'm sure you have figured out that we are not shy people. The more the merrier, but at times we need our space. We have toys all around. I've puchase functional storage in automans that convert to storage. Bottom line is we need help. We need a functioning area to enjoy our family or to get away from them. Due not having the proper tools, costs & knowledge we have not been able to update our family room (basement). Our home is a three story cape cod. This was just a basement prior to the work we put into it 15 years ago. This is the home I grew up in, we purchased it from my parents shortly after we were married, they moved to Florida. We have done a lot of updates but still need more. Our home has so much potential and I invision all the time the things we could do, again it's the knowledge, tools & cost. , Living Rooms Design

  • Rykers Choo Choo Room, My little man loves choo choos, and since his little brother will be here in a few weeks, we had to give him a new room so Briggs could take over the nursery. Ryker is still in a crib, so I bought my neighbor's crib for $60 and painted it red. We are hoping to keep him in it as LONG as possible:) I did however design the room around being able to move a big boy bed right in without having to change up the room...hope you enjoy., Nurseries Design

  • Birthday Project, My sister and I made over my Dad's room for his birthday. It's my VERY first time doing anything like this, so please keep criticism kind! I am open to suggestions for next time, and we are still going to make small changes, like new dressers, a new nightstand, maybe some sheers, and something to go on the wall above the bed. The first few pictures should be the before... anything with terrible reddish sponged walls is before if not! As if you can't tell..., Bedrooms Design

  • Zebra, Paisley and Lime - OH MY!, This is my 10 year old daughters new bedroom. I selected the material for the bedding and curtains at a local fabric store and my mother made the items. I must say, it turned out gorgeous! The bed was a $60 find at a local thrift store. With a little TLC, the bed turne out better than I could have imagined as well. The only thing is that they advertised it as a full size. After we got the bed in the room, we realized it was a queen.... This took a little effort to convert to a full. I painted the art on the walls and purchased the mirrored night stands from Target. The desk was a resalvaged piece that also needed TLC along with the chest of drawers. We are still in the process of building zebra boxes for the top drawer (the top drawer was missing so we got the chest for $7!) My daughter cried with happines when she came home and seen her new room on her birthday. Let us know what you think!, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Our Christmas Home!, We love Christmas so much so I try to make the house as warm and cozy as possible during Christmas. I often have people say that they would love to come visit me and bake cookies when they see pictures so I feel like I am getting the look I am going for for the most part. Our house is very small (less than 1300 sqft) so it can be tough to fit in all that I wish I could but I do my best. Excuse the old tv! That is the one part of the room we need to update more than anything...haha I would love to buy a fireplace and a a tv to hang above it for that wall! That would really help complete the space for me., Holidays Design
