  • hidden treasure in sunken living room, help me find it!, HELP! First time owner needs ideas for improving and using this big, beautiful living room. Large living room with tons of potential. The room has hard wood floors and a brick fireplace. As soon as you walk in the front door the sunken living room and fireplace are what you see, making it a focal point of the townhouse. This room gets lots of light, partly because of the sliding glass door that leads out to the deck and has a relaxing view of the lake. A lot of time is also spent in this room, so it should be comfortable and practical., Living Rooms Design

  • Sunken living room, I love dark colors on the walls and with my living room, eating area, and kitchen all connected as one big room, I knew the sky was the limit when it came to color. I tend to gravitate toward traditional/elegant/luxury style, however I LOVE asian accents and tend to incorporate some country and modorn into my decorating as well., Living Rooms Design

  • The 70's Sunken Living Room is history!!, We brought the sunken living room up to the level of the dining room and the entry hall, then installed hardwood floors over all. I am so not into victorian anymore, but wanted to combine a few family pieces with the new color scheme and contemporary look I have come to love. We did everything ourselves, just the two of us! , Living Rooms Design

  • Sunken Cathedral Living Room, This is my Sunken Living Room. The design is a mixture of Contemporary, Traditional, and Asian. What I've done in this room is lay the hardwood flooring and the marble at the door and surrounding the fireplace. I of course also painted, but I am seriously thinking of going back and repainting all the walls except the fireplace wall with a neutral tan/brown color. What I still have not done but is still planned is replacing the outdated fans and back door that leads to the patio., Living Rooms Design

  • Gothic with an Indian/Asian twist, My first place! I'm so excited! I hand painted the walls a taupe color to look like suede. I love to use black iron wood stone with pops of red. I felt drawn to the unusual stone green color on the wall that hides my stairs & just went for it. I actually like it! Whats best is this room gives me lots of places to display my art & its open so you never feel cut off from guests when entertaining. Hope you like it!, Living Rooms Design

  • Sunken Living Room, Our sunken living room is an odd shape. The room is long and we are having trouble figuring out how best arrange furniture and enjoy the fireplace. This is the first room everyone sees when walking into the house. We love the architecture of the room but wonder if we should paint the white walls. The molding on the walls makes hanging pictures difficult. , Living Rooms Design
