  • Small Avocado Green Bathroom Out... Subway Tile and Chrome In, A small single sink, avocado green tiled bathroom was transformed into a more contemporary functional space. The existing cast iron tub was the only item spared. The tub only functioned as a tub, so we plumbed a shower for the tub. Also, we added an additional sink. Adding a pocket door gave us the ability to add a small storage closet behind the shower. A new cabinet was placed over the toilet along with recessed medicine cabinets for additional storage space. We vented the bath and since there is no window in the bathroom, we added recessed lighting and wall sconces. , Bathrooms Design

  • Updated 40's Vintage Kitchen, Wanting to keep the flavor of our little vintage 1940's kitchen while bringing it into the new millennium, we refurbished the original cabinets with their wonderful period details and constructed some new ones to match which accommodate new commercial-grade appliances. We added soapstone counters, a farmhouse-style sink, a subway tile back splash and a true linoleum, non-vinyl, floor in keeping with the period. The window seat is also original to the room and the pale robins egg blue color on the ceiling is one of my favorite features., Kitchens Design

  • My New Hotel Spa Master Bathroom--Small But Exquisitely Done!, I renovated my 1976 old, ugly, and small (8 1/2' X 6') bathroom with pink walls, tub, and sink and transformed it into a comfortable and inviting hotel spa bathroom that is the envy of my entire condominium building--all for $10,000 (but it looks like I paid more!). , Bathrooms Design

  • Combined Laundry Room and Powder Room Renovation, The number one priority in our recent home remodel was to reconfigure the laundry room and powder room areas. Our contractor reversed the two adjoining spaces to enter into the powder room first, with a pocket door leading into the laundry room. No more stumbling over laundry baskets on your way to the bathroom! The new laundry space includes elevated front load washer and dryer, Silestone Lyra quartz countertop, white subway tile backsplash, and Marmoleum flooring with inlay that is continuous between the two spaces. To further the vintage look of the powder room, we repeated the use of Silestone Lyra, which looks like classic marble, for the countertop. We designed a curved backsplash and added a cross handle faucet to enhance the classic vintage look of the vanity piece. Sconces were repeated on either side of the oval mirror., Other Spaces Design

  • Guest bath with Bling!, This space was transformed from a laundry room to a very fun modern and unique guest bathroom. Because I took a huge risk by using a variety of textures and finishes that aren't typically used together I consider this one of my most complex and well thoughtout designs! My friends that looked at me like I was nuts when I showed them my plans are now asking for help with their projects-I am very happy I stuck with my gut on this one. I relocated my laundry facilities into a hallway closet space. See my other uploads-the new laundry closet turned out better than I could have ever expected. , Bathrooms Design

  • French Inspired kitchen redo, This was a very boring tract house kitchen that I remodeled. I had the existing natural maple cabinets painted and distressed. We also removed a built in desk so that the homeowner could fit her treasured green hutch that was acquired for her previous home into the space. We had granite counters, stainless steel appliances and subway tile backsplash added. Also, new lighting and paint. Floors were refinished in an ebony stain. Furniture and window treatments are from the previous home I designed for her. The original island was removed and replaced with this custom piece., Kitchens Design

  • Mustard Nightmare to Classic & Beautiful, A horrible yellow bathroom with fluorescent lighting & vinyl EVERYTHING was the first room to go when we moved in to our new house. After completely gutting the whole space, we added a solartube skylight, a gorgeous cast iron tub and a pedestal sink with matching toilet. We laid subway tile in the shower and hexagonal tile on the floor and put a yellow accent line in both. We love our new bathroom!, Bathrooms Design

  • Gray and White bathroom to fit any accessory, After my mom's house burnt down in a wildfire, we were able to create a space from scratch. These pictures were taken before she moved in and with a small attempt to "stage" the room. This bathroom is almost big enough to be handicap accesible. The simple color scheme lends itself to be flexible enough to fit any color or style of accessories. She alternates between purple (her fav) and red (which looks striking in that room)., Bathrooms Design

  • My Eclectic, Napa-Craftsman Inspired Kitchen, I chose three different cabinet colors: Deep cherry chocolate, quarter-sawn autumn oak and deep brick red. The granite is full of movement and depth called copper canyon. My open shelving is by far my favorite design aspect. The wood is oiled walnut planks from the rafters of my grandfathers barn (almost 40 years old!). I had them planed and all we had to do was oil them. I found the some very simple brackets from Van Dykes to hold them up. I change out my pottery and dishes according to the season which is so fun to do! I use everything that is within reach, the higher up, the more for show:-) The subway tile back splash is a hand cut, hand glazed crackle in honey. My two sinks are a copper with a brown patina. The bar sink is octagon in shape and the farm house sink is a DREAM for cooking and piling up dishes and bake ware to keep the countertops clear. My life would not be the same without it! I also love how bacteria only lives two hours on it. It's a living sink, so the inside patina changes, rubs off and comes back daily according to the foods we eat. I love the towel bar and it is surviving two children under four with no problem - whew! I had so much fun picking out the cabinet hardware. Each color of cabinet have a different family of knobs/handles, but all are in oil rubbed bronze. We also decided to thicken the island granite to give it a more distinct feel. This space is a favorite among friends and we never leave it when entertaining! My husband, Mom and Dad chimed in for advice. I had a great cabinet designer who did a great job in helping me save $$. Probably the most helpful, chic person is my cousin Tiffany who lives far from me, but we talked a ton on the phone, emailed and I shared pictures with her as the house took shape. It was great to have someone who could help steer me in the right direction and give me confidence in my choices. The colors of the walls pay homage to her! I wish she lived closer:-) She rocks - Thank you Tiffany!!!, Kitchens Design

  • Cottage Coastal Bathroom - Revised, This bathroom is in our 1930's Dutch Colonial home. Our hope was to make it look as if it were here since long ago. We used white subway tile as wainscoting and up to the ceiling in the shower/bath. The original tub was kept as it had a unique shape and design. The tile has a thin black border and a simple rope design and bull-nose finish. , Bathrooms Design
