  • Horizontal Stripes and Polka Dots for Girls: Pink, Teal, Lime, Tan, Two little princesses started with a plain light gray room. With the purchase of new bunk beds & new polka dot bedding, we needed something girly to jazz up the new space. We taped off horizontal stripes to coordinate, and the attached bath uses polka dots in the coordinating colors and the same princess theme. It uses bubble gum pink, lime green, light teal/turquoise, and tan/khaki. The wall of baskets was pricey but is invaluable storage for toys and such. The whole project was kid-friendly and fun and on a budget., Girls' Rooms Design

  • Master Bath Mini-Renovation, Since our home was built in 2007, we did not need to renovate the entire room. We felt we could achieve the look we wanted by simply renovating the shower & making minor cosmetic changes. We did it all ourselves & on a budget!

You can check out our blog: duoventures.blogspot.com to see more details on the renovation!

Here's a quick rundown of what we did:
-we removed existing shower stall & expanded about 10 inches
-removed part of the dividing wall between the shower & tub
-tiled the entire shower with travertine subway tiles
-had a frame-less glass door & panel installed
-changed out light fixtures & faucets
-framed existing mirror above the vanity
-painted & added some DIY art, Bathrooms Design

  • Baby's Nursery ' Star Serenity', Pastel colorblocked wall (subtle stimulation) 3 contrasting walls done in the same green (but half-cut) resulting in a softer shade in the same hue. Colors were matched to fabric. (A waffle weave textured polyester cotton. ) All painting and sewn accessories were done by myself. It is a tiny room and very serene. Floating shevles and a small accent carpet has since been added. (March 25th/08 -I have left this room up for reference of a 'color-blocked wall'. ), Nurseries Design

  • MudNook, Our entry hall and adjacent living room were always a mess because my family refused to use the closet by the front door to stow coats and shoes. What I needed was a mudroom. What I had space for was a mudnook! I painted the trim a crisp white but wonder if I should paint it to match the walls. Please advise. , Living Rooms Design

  • Makeover on a budget, This bathroom was a blah standard room with odd separations. It had a garden tub that took up most of the space and a 29" square shower--utterly useless. Now it is open, modern with an air of Victorian antiquity using an antique dry sink and a glass vessel and open storage. All this for $6,500 which included $2,500 for a contractor to do plumbing and demo. Everything else was done by me, from floor tile to reconfiguring the dry sink, building the open storage, wallpapering, painting, and tiling the shower. , Bathrooms Design

  • Flower Pond Cottage: Hallway, This is the hallway that leads to our daughter's room, home office, and 2nd bathroom. We have these 22" square spaces above 2 hall storage cabinets that I don't know what to do with. I was thinking some kid of square basket with a sign attached. I'd like to use this space for linen storage (as this new house has limited storage space). Any ideas?, Other Spaces Design

  • Pretty Pantry, Although my walk-in Pantry is spacious it was always crammed full of food and most of the time we could not locate anything. I decided that it needed an overhaul. Now it is perfectly organized and after a grocery trip it is super easy to find where everything goes and just do a quick refill. All the canned goods go on the left hand wall and are easily found and within reach., Kitchens Design

  • Sophisticated Safari, Coverted a small library - with floor to ceiling built-in bookcases and rolling ladder - into a cozy nursery. The room features numerous photos I took while on safari in South Africa as well as Alice and Wonderland drawings created by my late uncle that hung in my bedroom when I was a little girl. Fun custom fabrics and basket trim mimics the polka dots painted on the ceiling. Unified storage baskets occupy the bookcases and extra storage hidden under the slipcovered bench. , Nurseries Design
