This is a 35 year old 2-story that we gutted and made some up dates to a traditional style home. We built it to stay and then got the bug to build new. Here are just a few ideas that you can do to make yours fresh. I put it on paper and Les from L&M Remodeling put much of it to reality. Much thanks to Les for his outstanding craftsmanship! This house sold in one week kind of a bitter sweet thing.

I try to make my garden a place of relaxation, enjoyment and surprise for everyone who enters it. It's not much, but I sure do enjoy creating my little oasis away from the hectic pace of everyday life.

I designed this "Fairy" garden as a makeover for a family on the HGTV show "Outer Spaces" a few years ago. The family loved fairies and wanted me to incorporated them somehow in the garden without it being to "juvenile" looking. Enjoy www.ShirleyBovshow.com

This was my formal living room this year decked out for the holidays. It turned out to be a combination of fine antiques mixed with somewhat of an eclectic mix of other furniture... little bit of old...little bit of new. I was shooting for cozy and inviting, with perhaps a touch of elegance.

Here is my Living Room. We painted the walls with a chocolate and gold color. Which makes it wam and inviting. Added an accent plate to the fire place.

I just moved into a new apartment and the blank walls match my blank mind in terms of decorating ideas! Advice would be appreciated. You can tell from the wall I am considering beige paint. I also just ordered a Persian rug. In the past my style has been more quirky and girl (photos of my old studio are up here too but I want this to be a more adult sophisticated space.

This is our first summer as empty nesters and we decided to give our home a much needed face-lift, in and out. We've never tried any real gardening or landscape design before except for planting a shrub here and there and, sadly, most of them died before the first year was out. But, we have been so inspired by the "spaces" that we've seen here that we wanted to try creating some garden beauty for ourselves.
Because my health doesn't permit me to spend a lot of time outside, we decided to begin with a simple plan. The idea for the first year is to start small and then each year add to the existing gardens as well as create new ones. I love all kinds of bright colors and and we tried to concentrate on perennials so that next spring (hopefully we will have a nice beginning all ready to expand.
We have been inspired and learned so much from this community already and welcome any suggestions. Thank you!

This is a picture of my living room that shows my love for collecting objects from around the world and then blending them together for a cohesive eclectic but classical space for entertaining. My home was built in the 1950s but architectural details were added to reflect my love of historic homes and furniture. The age and style of your home should not alter your preference in design styles but with a little imagination and eye for proportion you can make a home that is truly " Home Sweet Home" which you can be proud of. Please vote and tell me what you think.
