Our journey of renovating our kitchen began in Feb-Mar 2008. It's Jan 2009 and what is left to do is the backsplash...on "to do list" for Spring 2009. We love our "new" kitchen!

We recently (finally renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!
feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - http://fixerwithaview.wordpress.com - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled.

Our 24 year old contemporary home had a great masterbath space with gorgeous skylight, however it needed a makeover badly. The old space was all gold, mirrors and ceramic tile with a gigantic step up tub. We decided to create a more modern 'spa like' zen space inspired by a trip we took to Bali Indonesia. The heated floors also added a nice touch!

When we moved in, our bathroom was outdated, ugly, full of mold, and very inefficient. We transformed it into a clean, modern, efficient bathroom with a spa-like feel that also fits in with the rest of our house, which was built in 1958. This bathroom is only 5' x 8' so we had to get creative to make it feel spacious. My husband rebuilt the subfloor and did all of the tile work himself, I painted, and we hired a contractor to do the electrical and plumbing. The vanity, mirror cabinet, sink, and shelving was purchased from Ikea. The shower wall was custom made. We gutted the entire bathroom and only spent about $3500 for the entire remodel.

By removing a large pantry in the back wall we were able to expand the space to better receive the sunlight from the skylight and recessed lighting. It's minimalist decor lets the architecture speak for itself.

Our 1920's row home has only one bathroom upstairs and it's tiny and poorly arranged. The tub/shower is on the wall next to the door and actually had to be notched so that the door would close! The pedestal sink has no counter or storage space space. The only storage we have is in the small medicine cabinet and the cabinet over the toilet. The walls and ceiling are painted with some kind of textured stucco-like paint. We want vintage not old! We have an idea for a new arrangement for the shower and sink and want to basically scrap everything and start from scratch. We need more coutner and storage space, and love vintage style. Any ideas or advice for an older home bathroom overhaul?

Very modern pink marble and mirrored bathroom! All of the marble and the mirrors were from the former owners (there used to be a faux garden behind the tub which we immediately removed. We have remodeled other rooms as you can see but are not sure at all with what to do with the bathroom. Any ideas would be welcome!!!

Old Photographers Studio that is self contained unit above a store front and across the street from City Halls Building with great views. The floors are sloped but I love the aged look of the unit. I am looking into getting a price to fix the skylight that has a leak. The room is 25x16 or more. I decided to paint it blue but think a soft green might be better. Maybe even try an exotic color that is not too dark, even though the room is bright enough to handle color. I want the room to feel cozy and zen like. I just added a sectional and am still in the middle of my move and hope to update the pictures as TRY to improve the space. Well, that is it for now....Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Dont mind the mess....

Our new house had bathrooms older then dirt. The upstairs bath presented a particular challenge, complete with low ceiling and crooked walls.
All was gutted. Installed were new tile (wall - white subway and floor - textured semi-gloss ceramic, new glass backsplash, new vanity, toilet and brushed nickel fixtures.
We used a pallet of dusty blue, cotton white, espresso and black for a crisp winter morning feel.
All is ready but the swing shower glass for the bathtub.

When we bought our home, we wanted to create a beautiful bedroom for our oldest daughter. She picked out the color scheme and wanted a butterfly-themed room.

By removing two small walls, it opened up our old, hideous kitchen, to an elegant, clean and very useful cooking space! We love the craftsman look, and worked extra hard to pull the look in with the rest of the house. Our goal was make sure we blended the kitchen and not allow it to look better than everything else.
