  • A Bed on the Water, The view is the essence of this room - I can lie there and watch the moon rise. So, it is barely 'decorated'. In one corner I have an old school desk which serves as my dressing table, complete with triple mirrors and lights. A driftwood branch is a hat rack, and I threw all my jewelry onto a big tray of shells and coral after seeing Pirates of the Caribbean. But really, it's all about the view., Bedrooms Design

  • Christmas can be white - even in southern cal!, I like white. You can clearly see that if you view my other rooms. Here is how I decorated on a dime for our first Christmas in our new home. I went with white and green with a touch of silver and cream in the family room and kitchen. For the living room and dining room I added red into the mix. I forgot to take pictures of my outside, but we lit our courtyard topiaries with white lights, wrapped our garage door in ribbon and added to our mailbox with a traveling garland of pine and winter berries., Holidays Design

  • Pool Table Room for ladies and gentlemen!, The focus for this room is obviously the pool table. I wanted something very dramatic and stylish rather than just a traditional masculine room. My office is also in the room, so I wanted to feel comfortable. I used the bookshelves for lots of storage in the black leather boxes. The low shelves were free from a pre-school. A few coats of black spray paint and some puck lights made them elegant. The ferns in the tall copper planters (which are really trash cans from a big box store) remind me of the 1920's. The picture of a 1920's bar scene fit nicely against the dark gray metalic wall paint. The accent color of plum started with 2 vintage velvet pillows I have had for 20 years (and never had the right room for them). Got very lucky to find the matching chair which I talked down the price by half since, really, how many people want a plum velvet accent chair? the shelves are bit busy but I like to surround myself with family pictures and my books. The large mirror with it's silver accent rondolettes ties all the other elements together and helps to keep the room from being too dark. I love the metallic paint from Ralph Lauren. It was selected to match the curtains and create the mood for the room. , Other Spaces Design

  • Hollywood Glam Master Bedroom Makeover, Just finished our master bedroom makeover. This was really a DIY project as I made the bedspread and curtains, husband Jim built the cornice boxes over the windows and together we covered them in batting and fabric matching the bed pillows. We also had to rework the bed frame. Initially the headboard was lower and the 27 inch Euro pillows completely covered the headboard which would not do because it is a really pretty upholstered headboard in a cream twead. So we took the bed apart and added additional wood on to the bottom of the headboard and covered it in fabric we found that matched the existing fabric then re-attached it to the bed frame, this lifted the headboard much higher and now you can see it.
The dark brown fabric on the euro pillows and throw is a faux fur called chocolate swirl. (not sure if I like it hoping it will grow on me) The fitted bedspread, cornice fabric and matching smaller pillows are shiny silver with a small amount of gold. I was trying to get a swanky hotel look, but I love Hollywood glam and so some of that is thrown in with it. I know the ceiling fan is a BIG No No but I am sure I am not the only woman that cannot convince her dear husband to replace the summer comfort of a ceiling fan for a chandelier in the interest of added style. I will continue to work on that and perhaps in time will replace the ceiling fan with a nice chandelier. One can only hope!
The lamps are from Pier One, the Bed from Macys, the mirrored night stands are from Home Goods. The dresser had ugly brass pulls; I was able to completely change the look by adding the silver pulls.
I got tons of inspiration from the other Rate My Space postings, hope you all like my pictures and please feel free to critique if you se something I can do to improve the look.

  • BE MY GUEST: GUEST BEDROOM ON A DIME!!, My guest bedroom was "tired"!! So with a budget of $300 I revived it!! Had all of the existing furniture already. New linens some flea market finds a homemade head board and some treasured pieces mixed together make for a comfy room. With a change of the red quilted shams & quilt this room can easily be given a whole new vibe. Hounds tooth for a more manly look contemporary for the younger crowd!!, Bedrooms Design

  • Lavender Guest Room, My husband and I have been in our house for almost 13 years and we've never used this "bedroom" space as a bedroom. So this time we finally did it. The walls were already lavender and I didn't want to paint again, so lavender was what we were going to work with. I found the headboard and mirrored dresser at a model home furniture clearance center, bedding, pillows and lighting are from Home Goods and window treatments from Bed Bath & Beyond., Bedrooms Design
