• Guest room- ignore the too short curtains! :), Trying to avoid painting walls and decided to use lots of color instead... did I go overboard? Ignore those curtains... way too short! I might sew a panel on the bottom as a fix., Bedrooms Design

 • Small Change, Big DIfference, Sorry for the lousy web-cam pics but I don't have a digi cam. Before and after of the tab top panels in my family room. Got them on clearance and they were too short. I finally got around to adding fabric to the bottom. It doesn't show in the pic but the bottom fabric is a subtle tone on tone leaf design. I'm no seamstress but they came out well IMO. I suppose a real seamtress would twitch a bit if she got a good look but luckily I don't know any. Ha. Pam., Living Rooms Design

 • Empty Nest, We are on a tight budget and I am hoping to find inspiration that is affordable and that I can complete myself. My husband wants this room to be cranberry but I say NO I was thinking a sage green or something near it. I want to make it formal by adding chair railing and some type of molding beneath the chair rail. Plan to change out the chandilier bulbs soon as well as a get a celing medallion. Help me fellow spacers!!!! , Dining Rooms Design

 • Family living, I hope I have created a welcoming space. I wanted my children to feel comfortable there, but I also wanted to feel that it looked "dressed". For me, it is a calm space that I can update and change easily with new pillows, and perhaps by recovering the wing backs and changing the carpet. It is neutral but not boring., Living Rooms Design

 • Love my new couch, I painted my curtains and you can read here how I did it:

If the link doesn't work and it says link doesn't exist on the blog, IT DOES EXIST. Just copy and paste it into the browser and it will work. I don't know why that happens sometimes. (The link adds a

at the end of the webaddress, you can also just delete that and it'll take you to the tutorial)

I finally purchased a new couch and I love it. The couch is the Claudia Sofa from Macy's.
Now I'm still on the hunt for a new coffee table. I'm kind of getting sick of my ottoman which I had only bought because my kids were toddlers and I didn't want them to get hurt on hard edges and corners.
For the coffee table I think I will go with a gold Hollywood Regency table or a modern chrome and marble top table. Lets see what I can find in an affordable option.
A lot of people always ask me why I have light colored flooring even though that the trend is to go really dark. The reason is dust and dirt! Most of my friends that have dark floors go crazy trying to keep their dark hardwood floors looking clean. I don't, because you can't see the dust and cat hair from 4 cats as much. That is also the reason why I have a traditional persian style area rug. I actually would much rather have a graphic patterned rug but they are hard to keep clean again. I've tried other rugs before. The pattern of my rug is forgiving!
That is the reason why I have the ikea pillows. They are easy to wash and keep clean. And if one is ruined, they are cheap and easy to replace.
I guess I'd rather compromise with my large busy family. Two kids and four cats do make a lot of dirt but my house mostly looks clean! , Living Rooms Design

 • Our Colorful Kitchen Remodel, When we moved into our new house, we didn't have enough money to re-do our kitchen so we decided to handle the project ourselves. We painted the cabinets, painted the backsplash, added a hand painted island, changed out the hardware on the cabinets, spray painted the old kitchen light fixtures, painted a chalkboard wall, and replaced the old curtains with new ones. We love the way it turned out even though it was a lot of work!, Kitchens Design

 • Nightmare on Bell Grove Blvd., 30 year old house with lack of lighting, bathroom entirely too short for family - more appropriate for children. We are in need of desperate renovation. Walls peeling, toilet, shower and countertops all too short, sinks rusting, no storage space, hideous flooring and horrible cramped space - almost hitting your head each time you sit down on the commode. Heavily popcorned ugly ceiling and hideous paint job. Towel bars too small to fit standard toilet. Essentially - nightmare on Belle Grove Blvd!, Bathrooms Design

 • Simple & Light, I'm only a student and I want to create and outdoor room in which I could enjoy and relax in. I had only a budget of $350 and I think I made it work with what little money I was able to spend! Let me know what you guys think or what I could have done differently. I'm a complete amateur at this stuff! I basically got almost everything at Ikea. I knew I wanted a white and clean space but with low maintenance. I didn't have a lot of money to spend on schrubbery or potted flowers. Plus, had I put more plants or flowers it would have over-complicated the space that would have conflicted with the simple furniture. I put curtains up to sort of make this outdoor patio seem like an indoor room when need be. Especially since the patio is in a condo building, it provides privacy! , Porches Design

 • decisions, decisions, decisions, i'm trying to decide if i could get by with just raising the curtain rods or do i need to add valances? i bought off white paint paint for the furniture but can't commit- the room's trim is already brown and i really like black. tried subtle stripes on walls- not my thing. thinking of stenciling subtle border or overall design not sure if that would work with floral fabrics. still looking for easy headboard idea that inspires me. , Bedrooms Design
