My kitchen is falling apart. It has never been upgraded. It is very old and outdated. It has several layers of paint at this point, peeling in some spots. A nonfunctional dishwasher with missing nobs. Some of drawers are non functional, some are MIA. The cabinets are falling apart, The counter top is peeling and crumbling in some spots. The linolium floor is very discolored and peeling, The lighting is very poor with one non funtioning and one functioning florescent lights. A very ugly drop ceiling. The one really nice thing about this kitchen is the new oven that my children purchased as a christmas gift. The last one only had one burner that worked.

We inherited the cranberry couch, it's great, but has giant arms and destroys visibility. The green couch is so comfortable and our first furniture purchase. The walls are unbearably bland. Help!

Our ktichen is too narrow (only 11' wide for an island. There are 7 doorways impossible to move w/o gutting the entire downstairs. So we worked with the space we had. We saved money by keeping all the working appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave. Only range and toaster oven were replaced.
Unfortunately the soffits contained major plumbing and electric so only a portion could be removed. The rest were reduced in width and height. A smaller table was substituted and the peninsula widened for stools. The extra width made that counter a really improved workspace. A small tray cabinet (below and pullout spice cabinet (above were squeezed between the range and refrigerator. The kitchen might be small but fortunately has a large pantry all along a hall just behind it.
So what do you think? Should we paint the walls/soffit a color? Or keep it white?

In August I posted our kitchen remodel and asked for paint suggestions. Soft gold was mentioned. We went with BM Barley. (The first post has loads of Before and Afters. New fridge now too!
What do you think? Does it work?

This is the first room you see walking into my house. It's a living room and dining room. It's oddly shaped so we aren't really sure what to do with it. And the way it's set up now we almost never use it. It's got hardwood floors and high ceilings. Also nice windows but as I mentioned it's a unique shape.

I like our master bedroom but I would love your advice on how to make it better looking! What shape and type of bedside lamps would be better? Should the lamps be shorter and bulkier square shades oval etc? Would an area rug be a nice addition or do you like it plain? Please ignore the patches on nail holes that haven't been fixed. I've read some great recommendations for others and hoping for the same!
