  • 80's Update, In this 1980's bathroom the gray and beige tile was given an updated look through the application of a modern gray and beige botanical wallpaper. The upper cabinet doors were removed to create open shelving for display and all cabinetry was painted espresso brown. Ethnic art and accessories and a white all-cotton shag rag rug completed the transformation., Bathrooms Design

  • Sensibly Modern in Suburbia, I fell in love with my mid-80s tri-level because of its unique living space. Instead of focusing on square footage, the design really utilizes cubic feet with high vaulted ceilings dominating the main level of the home. From the outside it's just another house in another suburban neighborhood, but inside it's nothing but., Living Rooms Design

  • New shag rug in den...thoughts., I bought a 5x8 shag rug and wanted to get some feedback, should i go with the 8x10?

I went with a solid rug since there were so many pattern going on in the room with the pictures on the wall and the pillows.

  • Shag Rug Living Room, This is our living room. Everyone thought I was nuts when I described it. I guess shag rug and zebra chair strikes fear in some! Still working on accessories, wall art and curtains, but we have been here for 90 days and this is as far as we've gotten.

I have been asked what blinds we used. I had 22 windows to do in our new house, so I went economic and bought a stock blind from Lowe's. These are more of a dark wood stain (almost has a red hue in the light). Don't let them talk you into "custom length" especially for roman shades - they roll toward the back so it doesn't matter. Hope that helps!, Living Rooms Design

  • Teeny Tiny House, 256 SF of big love in this tiny house. John Lennon and I share it well. Super comfortable, tons of storage, full kitchen with washer and dryer, and cozy bath - that's living - and the beautiful pool is just outside the french doors. But, I need a new sofa/convertible bed, help!, Other Spaces Design

  • Another Blank Slate Open for Suggestions!, This is our mostly empty living room. It's fairly large and has at the moment:

- 2 large chocolate brown reclining leather sofas
- a pub table and four chairs
- Cream colored slightly shaggy square area rug
- soon to be 50' flat screen and accompanying credenza (54' L x 22' W x 36' H)

There is an extra space (you can see from the layout) that I think an upright piano would fit nicely (we are musicians), but it'll be a while until we purchase a piano.

I'd love some suggestions for decor -- curtains/window panels; lighting; mirrors; ANYTHING! Maybe even a plant? Haha.

I'm leaning towards a color palate of -- chocolate/mocha browns with a range of khaki/tan/wheat hues with sage greens and crisp white accents (I have a vision of a white bowl with fake pears in it, lol!)

I'd characterize our "style" (not like we have one yet) as clean, natural, with maybe a little rustic (we like nice wood grains). I love the POTTERY BARN catalog, just not the price. :)

Thanks for your time and advice everyone!

  • Hudson's Woodland Nursery, My husband and I designed Hudson's nursery on a pretty tight budget- he's our second child. We re-purposed furniture and shopped Ikea, HomeGoods, Costco, Ross and other budget friendly stores for decorations, furniture and a rug. The curtains, crib skirt, boppy cover and recovered lamp shade were all diy. My husband, being the designer in the family, was the one who came up with the design board for Hudson's room and found awesome prints and the wall decals for the room. This is our favorite room in the house!, Nurseries Design
