After five years of the "kiddie" fish decor my daughter nephew & I were definitely ready to make over their bathroom. They both were approaching age 11 so I had them help select the theme and they were all for me doing my first mural! I've always enjoyed sketching so I decided to sketch directly on the walls. I gave the kids paint brushes & had them to help paint some of the animals & grass!!!

I love safari decor & since I already had a lot of accessories from my old place I decided to use them in my new place. However I think the room is lacking something. Thanks for your ideas.

I did this room for a 13 year old girl as a birthday present from her mom. I was able to do it for about $1000 which included a new desk, nightstand, pictures, accessories, rug, lamps, bedding, pillows, curtains, hardware and paint for the walls, ceiling and trim. I was able to redo her mirror and also reupholstered a hope chest she had for extra storage.

I went right before the Holidays to Fortunoff and saw a Christmas tree with a bouquet as a tree topper which I loved. I went to AC Moore and bought the flowers and did my own. I also added cooper accents to the tree which has been mainly gold in the past.

This is the family bathroom is our small ranch style home. We had to gut the 5x8 ft space to get rid of the horrible marble paneling, chocolate toilet, chocolate brown tub and glued on surround. We replaced the tub and toilet with biscuit colored ones from Kohler. We purchased a furniture style vanity and installed porcelan tiles on the floor and coordinating ones around the tub. We placed the floor tiles on a diagonal to elongate the space and selected a tranquil sage green for the walls to add a pop of color.

I was trying to copy someone who posted a few weeks ago "The finest throne". I loved her window treatment (now shower treatment idea. I would have never thought of doing that. Thanks again for the tips. I have some left over safari valance & was thinking of making another header/valance for the window. Would that be over done ??

I recently painted a wall mural in my friends daughters nursery as a house warming gift to them. They said "Olivia's Safari" is one of the best parts of their new house!!! I paint murals for a living but this one was personal & very special to me. Olivia is so adorable & smart & funny & curious & interested in everything. I wanted to keep adding every little thing in there for her it took alot of self control to just stop painting before it started to look like a jumbled collage!!! :

My first techie-minded attempt at creative decorating on a budget. British Colonial semi-formal living room with British classic/traditional furniture accented by ethnic, Asian, and West Indian pieces.
Desert beige walls, with rich jewel tone red and green accents, coffered ceiling, marble fireplace with mantle, cherry hardwood floors. Comfortable khaki colored sofa with nail head trim, chinoiserie small table between classic wood-framed black leather chairs, leather tufted cocktail ottoman, carved pineapple and bamboo inspired end tables displaying Asian lamps, and a British classic entertainment center highlighting leather bound books and ethnic/asian pieces. Oriental rug, Thai silk curtains, and a hand carved giraffe from Kenya to round out the look.
This is the only living room/family room in the house, and I was hoping for an elegant but livable space to watch television and entertain on occasion. This room had the largest portion of the 2700 sq ft. house budget, as it's the heart of the house.
Out with the college junk, and in with the new house and the grown up furniture. How'd this techie girl do for her first time out?
