  • My Colorado foyer!, This is the foyer in our Colorado dream home high in the mountains. I designed the heated floor with honed copper slate and the stream running through it is of black pebbles trickling away from the fountain. The ceiling is barrel vaulted heavily textured and is painted in a metallic copper paint. Walls of windows allow this room to act as a warm welcome and a 'bridge' between our public and private spaces. Welcome to my home!, Porches Design

  • Small Master Closet Gets Walk-in Feel!, Ever since my husband and I moved into our first home, it's been love at first sight.. all except for our small master closet! In efforts to create more space, we moved all my husband's clothes to our large dresser so that we both had the extra space we needed to spread out. So, with the help of Closetmaid, Behr paint, and a touch of fabric, we were able to transform our small, cramped, ranch style closet into spacious, walk-in closet that I've always wanted! , Closets Design

  • Northwest Contemporary Kitchen Remodel, We purchased our outdated 1964 home 10 years ago and have been remodeling it slowly. We recently finished the kitchen/laundry addition. One of the main drawbacks of our home was the fact that there was no laundry room. The washer and dryer were previously located in a small closet off of the main hallway.

After much thought, we decided to include the washer/dryer in the new kitchen area. We'd seen this many times in European homes and decided it would be a good fit for us as well. So far, I've really enjoyed it. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it has been really handy! Also the high counter tops over the washer/dryer makes a great buffet area, easily accessible to the patio area (coming soon...)

By far, the most difficult item for me to pick out was the counter tops. I really love the look of cement but was nervous to use it because it's not as durable. After months of looking at different materials we finally decided on quartz counter tops by Caesarstone in Raven. Hard to tell in the photos, but it's a very soft black/deep gray. We went with stained concrete for my table though and I absolutely LOVE it! In fact, it's my favorite part of the kitchen!

I've spent countless hours both watching HGTV and browsing here on the website getting ideas for the remodel. RATE MY SPACE was the source of much inspiration and I've been looking forward to finally adding my own photos to it :)

Our goal was to create a warm, cozy kitchen area that all four of us could enjoy. Used warm colors to help counter the LONG, gray Oregon days. We're happy with the results!

Thanks for taking a look :)

  • Beach Cabin Powder Room, This tiny bath was part original, part 80's, and totally void of anything that would suggest "cabin". My husband made t&g boards to match the one existing wall and replaced the outdated countertop with a wood one to match the old wood floors that we discovered under many layers. The copper sink was an unbelieveable find at a closeout for $30. I added trim to the existing cabinet and painted everything in an earthy green. I chose to paint the cabinet the same color as the walls to make it recede rather than stand out in such a small space.Beadboard was added to the ceiling and painted a crisp white. I installed rustic exterior lighting to go with a mirror I already owned and to help keep that "cabin" feel. The opposite wall from the sink is all linen closet which I painted the same bright white preventing the room from being too dark, or too green. The entire makeover ran about $140 to blend this tired little bath in with the rest of our cabin., Bathrooms Design

  • Chocolate, Teal & Sage Nursery (close up pics added 12/9), For Broderick's nursery we chose a distinguished yet fun color palate of chocolate teal & sage. The deep espresso furniture offsets the light tan wall color and compliments the bright teal blue and soft sage green of the paisley crib bumper. The canvas prints are photographs ‘Mommy’ took in the first few weeks home from the hospital. The flat panel TV is wired for satellite and helps these brand new parents cope with late night feedings. We truly enjoy this room and hope you do too!, Nurseries Design

  • Baby Boy's Jungle Room, This boy's nursery was also done on a budget. I chose my fabrics first and decided to go with chocolate brown and a robin's egg blue (which morphed into more of an aqua). Initially I wasn't sure of a "theme" but knew that I wanted a rustic feel. The zebra rug, sock monkey, and giraffe display made it obvious that subconciously I had chosen a jungle theme =)

Here is the furniture cost breakdown:
Convertible Dropside Crib @ Target.com.....$125
Changing Dresser @ JC Penney.....$170
Bookshelves @ JC Penney.....$100
Dutailier Glider & Ottoman (a splurge!) @ Albee Baby.....$570
Rug @ Target.com.....$53

With much planning and a tremendous amount of help from Gigi (my mom), this room has come to be one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy!, Nurseries Design

  • Emma's Nursery , Baby girl nursery - we wanted to do something that wasn't as babyish so she could grow into it for a bit longer. My super husband did all the molding and trim work in his "spare" time - I love him for blessing me with this! The upper wall paint is Ralph Lauren Cottonwood TH29. The trim paint is Powdered Snow by Behr. Curtains are from Land of Nod (you can order online), Nurseries Design
