  • A Do it Yourself Delight, A transformation of an ordinary open space with boring white walls with norstone's design expertise. Applied Norstone 100% natural quarried Stacked Stone Rock Panels. They are 1 sq ft /panels and they install with thinset and a 1/2 inch notched trowel (no spacers or grout necessary (thank goodness). The installation took about 2 days and it can be completed with minimal experience. Very economical to. , Living Rooms Design

  • Hill Country Retreat, One of the two rock cottages that is rented out to quests in the quiet community of Camp Wood Texas near the beautiful Nueces River on the edge of the hill country. This stone cottage has a spacious open court style. It was handbuilt by the previous owner stone by stone. Each rock was picked out specifically by the builder from the Nueces River Bed. I really need some input on how to rearrange each section to give a cozier look. , Bedrooms Design

  • Yard facelift, Back yard finished renovation and front yard cleanup. Originally the back yard had a pool but was filled in and then covered with landscaping fabric and several inches of pea gravel and crushed stone on top of it. A new garage was built last summer as well as a shed last fall. Recently though we found and built the rock walls from rocks all found in the yard. Many rocks were dug up when the new garage went in. Paver rocks that outline garden areas were also left from a previous owner. Patio flagstones were found and some were bought to fill in the holes. The front yard was thinned out a bit and cleaned up., Yards Design

  • Time to Relax, Our outdoor patio went from blazing hot sun to all day use. The awning gives shade from the southwest sun and the lights let us sit out 'til bedtime. Putting the awning on top of the rock wall gave the illusion of more space and the wall became more a part of the patio. We used reclaimed logs, Stainless steel aircraft cable, copper crimps and pipes, and Sunbrella Marine grade fabric to build our awning. , Patios & Decks Design

  • Paradise Found, My husband and I designed and had our home built high on a ledge overlooking a salt marsh and the Back River on the island of Georgetown, Maine. We had to create all our gardens and landscape from scratch, after blasting the entire house site. It was my goal to have each space we created fit in with our gorgeous piece of "paradise". We continue to have fun planning our next project. Our long winters are the perfect time for that...., Gardens Design

  • Sedona Old World Beauty, This is a custom home I designed and which was built for my clients a couple of years ago. I tried to give the home the Old world touches like Earth tone tinted Stucco, real tumbled Field stone, exposed headers, Mesquite doors. and wood and wrought iron gates, and gas lamps while keeping the home up to date as well. The front tower balcony has a beautiful view of the Sedona red rocks and The Chapel and the owners enjoy this view over their morning coffee. , Home Exterior Design

  • Our Farmhouse Victorian, This is the street view of our house. We have put in all new windows that look like the originals (but the new ones keep the heat inside) with the exception of the porch which we plan on doing in a few years. A new roof is also in the plans. I added the stone terraces and the fence; under all of that snow is lots and lots of flowers!, Home Exterior Design

  • Downstair's Living/Entertainment Room, Our house was robbed 5 years ago that's why we have that big hole in the ceiling. I never had time to fix the bar. When we're offered free things we take them. That explains the sofa table and the color of the couches. I've always wanted to repaint the walls but I don't know what color to do because one side is made of rocks, Living Rooms Design

  • My paradise, A small city shade garden in Canada that has been developed over a 13 year period. It's evolved into a sanctuary for me and many birds. My husband does the hardscaping and I do the planting. This property had a handful of plants and a weed filled lawn when we moved in. After a couple years of trying to grow a lawn my addiction to gardens made my decision easier to expand the gardens and remove most of the lawn. Stone and brick were reclaimed from job sites. The ground is naturally rocky but unbeknownst to me, an amateur gardener, the city filled the area in the 50's with debris from a building site that was developed for a shopping mall because this area had a river and was a new residential development. Asphalt, coal, concrete, wire and car parts have been dug up along with many trailer loads of rock. It's a labour of love., Gardens Design

  • Our Post-College but Pre-Perfected Living Room, We just bought our first house. It has this amazing space with big beautiful windows, but there are some unique challenges:

Odd fake beam on ceiling
TWO fireplaces
Half-wall next to entry which just confuses the flow of the place
BIG HUGE furnace intake grate on the main wall when you walk in.
Did I mention that there are TWO fireplaces? And that one of them has faux 70s lava rock!?!?!, Living Rooms Design

  • Rock Star Bathroom on a pipers budget...6,500., I had a small bathroom with a shower in the toilet room. I never used the tub so I yanked it out. I used a 12x24 porcelain on the floor, a 16x16 Honed Travertine on the walls with Marble and Glass accents. The shower is a walk in with no doors to clean. chocolate/copper glass. Hammered copper sinks and rust or oil rubbed bronze on the fixtures and hard ware....and no more sliding glass doors. Best of all: My toilet room is now just a toilet room!, Bathrooms Design
