Homage to the 70s! we went for a pretty wild carpet but paired it with taupe-greys and charcoal to give it a modern update. We really didnt want to to stray to far from the origins of the NW contemporary architecture, we took away more than we added

This is actually the kitchen in the condo I just moved out of in Anchorage Alaska. Hopefully my new one will be just as cool but probably not. :p The cabinets and sink are original to the building which was built in 1946. The cabinets are made of sheet metal and the sink top extends for the whole counter on that side. It was small but still a really nice kitchen.

I designed this living room in Florida to reflect a fun, passionate lifestyle. Most people who see my spaces think that thousands of dollars were spent to create them, and they are surprised to find that this whole room cost less to do than what most people spend on a typical sofa, loveseat, and chairs. If you are on a budget and need a creative affordable decorator, I'm your answer man. Shoot me an email anytime, and I can help make your space what you need it to be.

A spare bedroom turned home office that we designed to marry our eclectic style with workspace function on a budget. Me (Alyse and my husband Edmund needed a place to work from home, so we Craigslisted the desk and gave it a mini-makeover by lacquering the top white. We also wanted a quiet place to read or sit, so we found a sofa (also from Craigslist that looked good AND folded into a bed for overnight guests--double duty! We DIY'd the shelves (wall mounted to save floorspace, the curtains, and the reading light. The newsroom-style clocks are a nod to our family in other countries: Edmund's whole family lives in Ireland and my father lives and works in Iraq. Throw in a few accessories and a vintage desk lamp from my grandmother, and we finished the whole thing up for under $400.

My living room and kitchen area are decorated in shades of brown, green, and orange. My favorite colors. I love 70's style rooms and I'm trying to incorporate more into my space.

I decided to go for a unique nursery with my third son on the way. I love the Mod look and the retro robots and rockets keep the space fun and playful. I did this on a very low budget with things I had found used or on sale.

I wanted to update my living room with white, black, burnt orange and touch of blue. The show "Mad Men" was my inspiration; I had the sofa, chairs and table covers custom made. I live in the Middle East, so it's very reasonable to get things made. I was also able to reuse a few pieces of furniture by spray painting them black.

I have been working on this a little at a time when the budget allows me to. I am happy with it but wonder if I should put some color on the wall? The main colors are cream and brown with a few splashes of orange. I am looking for suggestions on color for the walls. Thank Yu

When we moved in, our bathroom was outdated, ugly, full of mold, and very inefficient. We transformed it into a clean, modern, efficient bathroom with a spa-like feel that also fits in with the rest of our house, which was built in 1958. This bathroom is only 5' x 8' so we had to get creative to make it feel spacious. My husband rebuilt the subfloor and did all of the tile work himself, I painted, and we hired a contractor to do the electrical and plumbing. The vanity, mirror cabinet, sink, and shelving was purchased from Ikea. The shower wall was custom made. We gutted the entire bathroom and only spent about $3500 for the entire remodel.

My all-in-one studio apartment space. My main room functions as a living/family/dining/bed-room and office. The room just under 15x15 and features 10 ft ceilings and incredible bay windows with plenty of gorgeous light!

I live in the Pacific NW with the gray and rainy days that can go on for long stretches. I've countered that with saturated orange chartreuse and turquoise through the home. Also using white to brighten black accents to ground and neutrals to balance.

I'm getting close to the end of my 6 month journey of transitioning our space to Mid-Century. I think I've been able to find some great pieces via craigslist, and ebay, but I'm still working on accessorizing the space with a couple of rugs, and few knick knacks. If you have any suggestions I welcome the feedback. One suggestion in the past is to add some greenery which I plan to do, but I want to make sure I find the perfect planter to fit the space.

Our home style is California Contemporary. High ceilings/modern fireplace/sunken room. This room has been a challenge figuring out where to put the TV, view the fireplace at the same time, and select furniture and accessories for high ceilings.
