  • From purple to fab, Our home was built in the 70's, soffets, spindles and just plain old. We removed all of that and gave it this fresh look. Lots of great tile and neutal tones with accents of black make it bright and spa like., Bathrooms Design

  • Taking our Master Bathroom out of the 90s and into Today!, When we found our house initially we loved the floor plan of the master bathroom; it was spacious with large closets for each of us. The vanities were evenly sized. My husband complained that a lot of houses had bathrooms that catered to the women, meaning that one of the closets and one of the vanities was usually larger and somehow that one always ended up belonging to the wife! In this house they're equally sized. We had a lot of work to do here though because the bathroom needed major updating. The shower was large but the door to it was small and just did nothing for the look. We were limited in being able to enlarge the door because there was plumbing for the dual shower heads on the vanity side which precluded us from doing a glass wall there and electrical for the closet on the other side so we were not able to glass anything but just the door. We raised and widened the door opening by about a foot. That's all we could eke out, but at least it was something. All the white tile was replaced with travertine and the shower was accented with a border of brown marble. We put dark brown granite on the vanities so that it would pick up the brown vein in the travertine. After the blog voting, the high-tech tub was ruled out and we went with a classic white jacuzzi bath (I do think that was the right decision!). We replaced the light that was above the bath tub with a vintage chandelier that had been in my home where I grew up. The matching one to this is in our butler's pantry. These chandeliers have been in my family for about three generations or so and hung in my childhood home, our previous house and now this house! Here are the before and after pictures.

  • NEEDS HELP!, This room desperately needs help. The yellow and pink tile have got to go, and it needs new sheetrock. The sink and cabinets are straight out of the 70's, and I think we may have mold on the ceiling. I just don't know what to do in here except to just gut the whole room and start over, which is over our budget. PLEASE HELP!!, Bathrooms Design

  • Master Bathroom Remodel-for $83!!, Our home was built in 1970 and it is most apparent in our bathrooms. Our master bath was very 70's retro with lavender speckled tile on the walls and small lavender tile on the floor. The vanity was an old off white laminate and the mirror was old and boring as well. I hated going into the room and would never use it because it made me cringe when I walked through the door! I repainted the wall tile white, painted the walls a warm caramel color and placed vinyl tiles over the gross tile. I then repainted the vanity, counter top and framed out the mirror. Total cost: $83! It's a whole new room don't you think!!, Bathrooms Design

  • First Time Remodel of a Small Bathroom on a Budget, This was a 1970's bathroom with aqua blue tub toilet sink and fixtures. Also with small 1 inch aqua blue and white tiles on the floor. This was our first time remodeling a bathroom. Looking to see what would look right on side wall next to sink? This wall is very small. Still have some trim work to do on bottom of cabinets and need a new door. The paint color is called Tumbleweed. Its a greenish color but the pics don't show it very well. , Bathrooms Design

  • Presenting my new Powder Room..., The powder room remained a question mark right up until the end. I really did sort of like the original wallpaper that was in there even though it had a bit of an Oriental flare to it which did not go with my theme. I was on the fence about it until I was not able to get it clean, then it had to go. I did not want streaked, stained paper in the powder room. I was able to salvage the ceiling paper though and coordinated the faux finish wall paint with the ceiling paper. We then replaced the pedestal sink with a nice wood cabinet vanity that has some usable storage space. I think it turned out pretty good. Too bad about the old paper though. I think the vote was mixed as to whether to keep it or not. Some people said they liked it and some immediately said 'You're changing that right?", Bathrooms Design
