The walls are a wonderful blue so the contrast with shabby white is outstanding. The carved wood panels from Bali were originally doors to a kitchen which I had painted off white and hung as the headboard.

It's not your typical baby girl nursery with its blue walls, white furniture antique mirrors, aged shutters with storage baskets hanging on them and shabby chic accents.
We love it and hope you do too!

I created a sanctuary for myself up on one of the Great Lakes. I live in LA so having a serene environment to escape to was the source of my design inspiration. White slipcovers are machine washable and keep the mood light. My color scheme was inspired by the view outside my windows - the lake the beach and the sky.

ok... I thought of things I could do with those crappy red lights in my kitchen and I thought of painting them a light green and hot glueing mums all aroung the bottom edges to difuse the brightness of the bulbs. But it didn't work!! I can still see the bare bulbs! Help! Any ideas??? Maybe glue some leaves around the bottom on the inside ( to also cover the bare looking stems I didn't want to see I just don't know what to do now. Maybe just start all over and BUY a shade?? NAW!! I'd rather try to salvage them cuz they DO look kinda cute. I just didn't think it out all the way. Any ideas are welcome!! Thanx ;

I started with my favorite colors on the walls and then rummaged through stuff in my basement to find old frames to repaint and made a lot of collages with scrapbook paper, Christmas decorations, and whatever else I could find. It was so fun!

Our house needs a new look! What color should we paint the window trim, the decking, and handrail. The house needs some character with landscaping as well. Also looking for advise on decorating the deck with outdoor patio lights and furniture, ect. We feel that the house is too bland and it needs some character. We live in a house that is 1,600 sq. ft. on the main level, and 1,200 sq. ft. on the lower level. It has a light grey vinyl shake siding called "weathered white". The windows are trimmed out in cedar painted white. It has double hung white windows, and two white french doors facing the lake. The lakeside is considered the front. There is a front deck that wraps around to the back of the home and it is a grey Trex maintenance-free decking. The deck railing is cedar painted white with aluminum spindals. The gutter is 6 in., 1/2 round, galvalium. There is a detached garage with the same siding, trim, and gutter. There is no lanscaping to speak of. We are desparately needing advise on how to create a shabby chic look, that is fun, and inviting, but yet elegant.

This is my daughter's nursery from our first home. I love shabby chic style and vintage items. This room was so much fun to create as most things were found by "hunting" them down in antique shops.
