  • Modern kitchen with large island, Before the kitchen was closed off from the living room. I decided to tear down the wall to have that open floor plan that most buyers are looking for. I built all the maple cabinets myself in the garage. The slate backsplash was originally 16 inch square tiles that I cut into 2 inch strips with a commerial wet saw. I then staggered each row but not like a brick wall. Each row is offset a different length than the row above and below. The whole house now seems to revolve around the kitchen. , Kitchens Design

  • Modern French Kitchen, A French kitchen with a slight modern twist. This room was redone back in 2007 and we still enjoy the renovations. We incorporated a lot of black and white (what we hope to carry to the dining room) and added some color by using green paint and green antique plates. The toile tablecloth and small leopard print rug add much needed depth and texture to differ from the granite counter tops., Kitchens Design

  • Small Cottage Kitchen/French Country, In 2008, we purchased our first home, a 1910 cottage-style home in the country. It needed some general TLC. The kitchen had mustard colored walls, so we repainted them in Sherwin Williams Latte'. We pulled up the ceramic tile floor and had the original pine floors refinished. The cabinets were very "80's"...stained a dark, dull brown, so we had them painted red and I added new hardware. Since the formica countertops were a neutral color and in good condition, we decided to keep them for now. My husband had been totally against using red on the kitchen cabinets, but as it turns out, it is now his favorite room in the house. , Kitchens Design

  • tiny kitchen with almost no cabinets NEW FACE LIFT!, Our kitchen was built in the 1970s and has never been remodeled as far as I know. We replaced the built-in stove with a new gas range. The floor was replaced years ago, but needs it again. The space is very small and has almost no cabinets. We had to actually remove a bank of drawers to make room for the dishwasher. The items from the drawers went in baskets that are on a mobile island. There really isn't room for a kitchen table but we've got one in there. We eat in the living room. We put the armoires in the kitchen so we could put glasses, large bowls, small appliances, etc in one side and food in the other. We have plans to remove the border and paint the walls and cabinet doors and replace the flooring. We will probably raise the height of the cabinets so my stand mixer will fit underneath them on the counter top. We're going to take the table out and get a couple bar chairs to use at the island for eating., Kitchens Design

  • 600 dollar throw away house garden, I bought a 600 dollar house marked for demolition. It is small but very charming and has incredible details from long ago building practices. The foundation is hand laid tooled rock and the siding is cedar clapboard, well it was under nasty green asphalt siding! The yard is immense, it came with half an acre of overgrown weeds, grass and rotten trees. From March til now, here is what I have been doing..., Gardens Design
