  • FlipFlopped Kitchen, We bought this house in Dec 07, planning on remodeling two bedrooms and a bath into a master suite, powder room and laundry. As soon as we were in the house we realized that the bedroom could wait, the kitchen could not. By Mar 08 we were in remodel mode. These are the results. Nothing is in the same place as before, hence the name, flipflopped. It was all designed around taking out the walls between DR , hall and the kitchen. And also designed around placing the dishwasher in a place where I could raise it up 6in! LOVE IT!!, Kitchens Design

  • any ideas? A *few* saving factors to an otherwise BAD kitchen, When we moved into our house, the kitchen had a horrible 1970's olive green paint on the walls. there was a double oven in the wall where the microwave shelf is now. We had a half wall separating the dining room from a step-down family room. We filled in the wall and added french doors, a fresh coat of bold red paint, and...some cheap and poorly installed pergo, which is still better than the olive green checkered laminate flooring. We used to have a dishwasher, but it burnt out and we never got around to buying a new one. The laminate counters haven't changed at all since the house was built, except that they are falling apart. I need some help. I want to make it look better without spending a fortune. Cabinet doors are the first on my list., Kitchens Design

  • What A Dramatic Difference. . . Right? (Befores and Afters), Space Description: Originally my Grandparents 1970's "Vacant" home, I, a single 23 year old guy, bought my house in 2008 and it was a dump in need of a serious remodel. Though the projects never seem to be completly over, I demolished the entire interior of the house and things have turned out amazing. The most significant change made in the kitchen was removing the wall between the living room and kitchen. This allows there to be one large open concept space rather then 2 separate rooms.

Featuring Select 6x24 Veincut Travertine on the floor and a Classic Splitface Mosaic, uniquely found at Old World Stone Imports, people that come in the kitchen can't help but awe. The Counters are Blue Pearl Granite with a chiseled edge to tie in with the the rustic 3D Backsplash. A simple but beautiful trick that I have learned, when it comes to windows in the kitchen, is to simply frame them in Travertine moldings, in this case the Classic Alpha. This allows the window to appear almost as an ever changing picture.

I had custom Cabinets created so that they were designed exactly as I wanted them to be done. The main stain that I picked is also the stain used throughout the entire house on all of the moldings. This allows a simple accent that flows and creates uniformity throughout the entire house. On the island I chose to do a simple black wash to create a unique feature different from the rest of the kitchen as an accent.

After removing the horrible wallpaper I chose a simple yet traditional beige paint color. Once again this paint color can be found throughout the majority of the house. What do you think of me painting the Main Kitchen walls a classic Country Golden yellow? Though the deck door is not perfect I changed it from its 1970's green to a much more modern simple white doorway just by using some paint.

  • Solid Oak Front Entry Door., Nothing about this door is box store thinking. The door, buck and side lights are one integral unit.

We started with the idea of a raised panel door with a Medieval European motif and we could not be happier with the outcome. Nothing is standard size. The door itself measures 2 ¼" thick and is 6'-10" tall. The construction is all solid Red Oak. We used oversize, solid Brass hinges and carried the antique Brass theme to the Gargoyle knockers guarding the entrance left and right. A cross motif was also incorporated into the design using real stained glass panels. Believe it or not all of the component pieces to the door were soaked in boiled linseed oil for a month, then allowed to dry and then assembled and finally finished with several coats of premium polyurethane top coat., Home Exterior Design

  • Asian Themed Guest Bath, I painted this room for a friend. Her vanity was the insperation for whole Asian Theme. The bowl sink has a Koi fish on it and the vanity was a perfect choice to pair that up with. I put a raised plaster Bamboo stencil on then painted it to match with the antique faux bamboo mirror. I handpainted the crowned snowy egret and a pagoda creeping out from between the bamboo. • 600 dollar throw away house garden, I bought a 600 dollar house marked for demolition. It is small but very charming and has incredible details from long ago building practices. The foundation is hand laid tooled rock and the siding is cedar clapboard, well it was under nasty green asphalt siding! The yard is immense, it came with half an acre of overgrown weeds, grass and rotten trees. From March til now, here is what I have been doing..., Gardens Design
