We moved our son into his big boy room this weekend and he is so excited. We built the theme around the RACE CAR BED. He loves it. We wanted to do the room blue but the ceilings are so tall we decided to do half and half with the existing wall color (a mushroom cap brown. We are planning to add a race car stripe (about 2.5 inches wide to the top of the blue but have not had a chance yet. What do you think?

This bedroom needed to work for a two year old and an infant - with room to grow. It has a very small closet, so I need lots of storage in the room but I don't want a lot of clutter. I got two storage benches with storage underneath and a big dresser which doubles as a diaper changing station. I wanted mostly blue, with accents of orange and green.

Disney Cars to the max! This room is for my 3 year old little boy. This room was done on a small budget. I purchased most of the furniure off Craigslist. My husband painted a lot of things to match the decor. With exception of the decals ( decals also purchased off craigslist most of the decor was DIY. This room took a long time to complete because waiting for the deals took patience. It was sooo worth it seeing my little boys expression when he walked into his new room. We kept the project from him so he was totally shocked.

This is my son's new Race Car themed room. Besides a race car bed, the room was completed with a tool chest dresser, a Disney Car's rug, an alarm clock, a race car M&M's lamp, and a custom built table top cars town. The bottom features adjustable shelving made out of an old entertainment center that we didn't need anymore. I just applied some red paint too it, and attached an L shaped table top made of 3/4 inch birch plywood to it. The walls were painted in a 3 colored scheme, and then I applied wall decals. Lastly added some art decor by applying a larger mural decal to a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood and hung it over the bed.

Our 5 year old Grandson wanted a Speed Racer room. I gave him a unique space with lots to see. The Murals were hand painted with lots of love from Grandma.

In anticipation of his baby sister's moving into the nursery, we created a big-boy bedroom for my son using colorful patterns and whimsical details. Some of the items moved with him from the nursery; others were thrifted; others were purchased new and one iconic feature, a reverse-stenciled dresser, was DIYed. The best feature of this room is that in addition to everything being toddler/preschooler accessible the design is both fun for a little boy and beautiful for his parents.

Zac's Dad called me and asked if there was a way to take an old truck apart and reassemble it in his son's room. My initial response was "sure, anything can be done, but..." Insert 100 reasons why it wouldn't work. Let's say he was a little disappointed. As our conversation developed, it came to light that it wasn't the idea of a real truck he was hot on, it was the fact that he didn't want one cut out of plywood and painted to look like a truck. He was in love with the idea of a 3 dimensional truck. The solution I proposed was to build our own vintage truck. So that's what we did. Styled after a 1940's Ford/Chevy pick up, we sculpted a scaled down version with an extended bed to accommodate a twin mattress. We topped off our handy work with a distressed paint finish and trim pieces. The only real parts on this bed are the wheels from a volkswagon and the steering wheel. We outfitted the room with a faux garage door sporting a logo of his son Zac's fictitious custom automotive business. I apologize to those of you that had seen this a month or so ago, it seems that several of my uploads were deleted by some gliche. So, here we are again, kickin the tires.

When we moved into our new home my then-4-year-old requested a race car room. Using race car murals creative painting and some curtains by Nana we have created a room that he loves. Furniture was made from scratch by my brother-in-law in a weekend!

This is our 3 year old grandson's room. He loves the garage. He spends alot of time working with Pa in the garage. So of course he had to have a garage of his own. First we made the garage wall with door. The cinder block was really easy, a little measuring and masking tape. I added the gas pump and door details with a little paint. We made the chair rail out of 1x2 so it would hold a small car. James loves to line up the cars. It also is a great place to store them. The tire I made from vinyl and is a great seat. All the other decorative signs we purchased to give it that garage feel. The dresser was purchased at a thrift shop. It had all the lines for a great tool chest. My husband painted it and we added the diamond plate. We also put it on castors so it would roll like a real tool chest. The mirror is made out of a bmx tire and tiles.James loves his new room!

Not completely finished but here is my 5 year old's requested Nascar room. The one wall is grey not white as it looks in the pics. I have to give DH credit for coming up with the idea for the dresser. It is two 3 drawer garage organizing units from Lowes with the work counter top attached. I think it fits the feel of the room perfectly and now my other son can have both "real" dressers in his room! The fathead was picked out by DS.
