  • Dungeon Old Duplex Revived, At the time, I really didn't like our duplex when we went to see it with the realtor as it was too plain and boring. But, my husband said that we could fix it up and make it our home. So, I agreed and this is the before and after. A few years later, my neighbor wanted to paint her half green and red and I begged her to coordinate her choice of colors with ours to increase our property value and so she did. That is why the colors are a bit off but better than green and red, lol!, Home Exterior Design

  • Front Porch, This is the front porch on our 1927 Dutch Colonial house. We love the original wood front door. My husband replaced the original wood ceiling with new beadboard and stained it. A new addition is the green planter box--inspired by a planter at a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Chicago and made by my husband. The chairs are new too and we love sitting out and enjoying our neighborhood! , Porches Design

  • My Curb appeal, Downsizing from a 3 story city Victorian to a midcentury suburban ranch, I found this well kept one owner house in a plan of about 600 houses, which only started out with three house models, a 2 bedroom 2 story, 2 bedroom ranch, or 3 bedroom ranch. While the hhouse was more than adequate, the curb apeal was minimum, especially since the front door faced to the side instead of the street. The original owner had built a roof over the original entrance patio. I screened and enclosed it with half walls, planter box, and a boxstore stock Victorian style screendoor, both as an entrance focal point and consolation prize for giving up all the Victorian"extras" in my previous home. My new neighbors and friends think it has successfully increased the curb appeal. What do you think?, Home Exterior Design

  • Recycled Flagstone Patio, I wanted a small stone or cement patio area for our bbq grill and some chairs. I had a budget of about $300. I was going to attempt to do a paver patio, but I realized I had a ton of random flagstone pieces lying around that I could recycle into a patio. So I purchased bricks for the edging and designed it myself. I also built a planter box and with the extra gravel from the patio base, I was able to create a gravel walkway as well. Not bad for $300!, Patios & Decks Design

  • Dog Bath - Garden Planting Station, This is our new pet washing and planting table. The walk up ramp serves as the perfect solution to bathing furry pets (dogs and cats), with out the back breaking, knee crunching experience of lifting the animals into tubs and small pools. The screen at the end of the station is great for filtering the dirt from planter boxes, not to mention cleaning the silt from our newly polished rocks, rock polishing hobby. , Other Spaces Design
