  • wood paneled living room with stained glass, It may sound classy but it's not! This room was an addition at one point and the stained glass leads into the bathroom. I know the couch is horrible, it was a free believe it or not! The highlight of the room is the tv. The room is very narrow and it's very difficult to place furniture. There are windows on one side of the room and because it is sunken there are two stairs on the other., Media Rooms Design

  • Americana Log Cabin - Simplify, This is the small living / kitchen (since it's all one space) area in my vacation home - which is a log cabin. I didn't want to do the typical "north woods, pine trees, moose, bears, red/black hunting plaids" that are associated with log cabins. I went with an Americana Country theme - inspired by the hand painted American flag over the vanity upstairs. Budget decorating at it's best! 95% of this stuff is second hand and I paid very little for it. The coffee table belonged to my husband's late grandfather - it was made and purchased in upstate New York a long time ago. Oh and since these photos were taken I have put a 6x9ish blue/tan/cream oval braided rug under the coffee table. I covers the majority of the floor between the love seat / fire place / sofa and covers the giant scratch for the time being.

The floor needs to be refinished. Any suggestions for anything else? I don't really want to add a lot of stuff, because it's a vacation home and I don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning each time I'm there :-)

  • Help us select a couch...., no need to rate we know it needs help. The comments from RMS made us realize it might be the couch that is making this space hard to work with. It matches the 'man chair' in the right upper corner...which couch style should we choose or should we add long tassely trim upholsterer's nailhead tacks to the round part of the arms and upholstery slilp covers for the seat cushions to make it work? • Living Room, This is our Living Room in our 1941 home. The walls are silver/grey and the hardwoods were recently refinished. The room was a challenge because it's long and narrow. We decided to cut it in half and make it 2 rooms---1 is the living space w/ tv and the other space is a fancy, sit by the fire area. It's a work in progress--walls are still bare, but we love how it's coming along., Living Rooms Design

  • Modern French Kitchen, A French kitchen with a slight modern twist. This room was redone back in 2007 and we still enjoy the renovations. We incorporated a lot of black and white (what we hope to carry to the dining room) and added some color by using green paint and green antique plates. The toile tablecloth and small leopard print rug add much needed depth and texture to differ from the granite counter tops., Kitchens Design

  • Eclectic collaboration, My husband and I got married at ages 49 & 50. We're both hugely sentimental so had to pull together our eclectic tastes, retro to modern, & things that were meaningful to us, on a shoestring budget for paint & updated furnishings. Here's the living room & dining room which is all one open room, in our 1930's, urban home., Living Rooms Design
