  • My Eclectic, Napa-Craftsman Inspired Kitchen, I chose three different cabinet colors: Deep cherry chocolate, quarter-sawn autumn oak and deep brick red. The granite is full of movement and depth called copper canyon. My open shelving is by far my favorite design aspect. The wood is oiled walnut planks from the rafters of my grandfathers barn (almost 40 years old!). I had them planed and all we had to do was oil them. I found the some very simple brackets from Van Dykes to hold them up. I change out my pottery and dishes according to the season which is so fun to do! I use everything that is within reach, the higher up, the more for show:-) The subway tile back splash is a hand cut, hand glazed crackle in honey. My two sinks are a copper with a brown patina. The bar sink is octagon in shape and the farm house sink is a DREAM for cooking and piling up dishes and bake ware to keep the countertops clear. My life would not be the same without it! I also love how bacteria only lives two hours on it. It's a living sink, so the inside patina changes, rubs off and comes back daily according to the foods we eat. I love the towel bar and it is surviving two children under four with no problem - whew! I had so much fun picking out the cabinet hardware. Each color of cabinet have a different family of knobs/handles, but all are in oil rubbed bronze. We also decided to thicken the island granite to give it a more distinct feel. This space is a favorite among friends and we never leave it when entertaining! My husband, Mom and Dad chimed in for advice. I had a great cabinet designer who did a great job in helping me save $$. Probably the most helpful, chic person is my cousin Tiffany who lives far from me, but we talked a ton on the phone, emailed and I shared pictures with her as the house took shape. It was great to have someone who could help steer me in the right direction and give me confidence in my choices. The colors of the walls pay homage to her! I wish she lived closer:-) She rocks - Thank you Tiffany!!!, Kitchens Design

  • I sold the entire old kitchen on Craig's List! , We took our condo's kitchen from builders basic blah to something we actually like. We put in recessed lights & pendents where there was only a fluorescent. Took out plain maple faced cabinets and put in a shaker style maple cabinets with a cranberry stain. Took the cabinets all the way to the ceiling & put in doors with frosted glass lighted by xeon puck lights. Went from Black granite countertops to white quartz with an undermount sink. Black appliances to stainless steel. Put in white glass 3x6 tile in a subway tile pattern. Put a white glass mosiac patterned tile behind the range hood. Moved the microwave from above-the-range to a location next to the fridge and had it built in custom. Moved the fridge over to gain a pantry. Put in a garbage drawer and paneled the dishwasher. Put on knobs and pulls with style. , Kitchens Design

  • 70's gone modern with some blues, We had a "U" shaped kitchen that made you feel boxed in. We changed the layout to two L shapes which i think improved the flow and opened it up for entertaining. Our taste is everything from craftsman to modern. We went for more the modern feel with blue pendants, paint on the walls, and spots on the granite. 12 x 24 Porcelain tiles, Kitchens Design

  • Condo Kitchen Redo - Finally Finished!, We bought our condo in 2006, with the expectation that we would someday need to redo the kitchen (it was hideous). We finally redid it this spring so we could enjoy it for the next few years before we outgrow the space. We tried to keep it inline with the rest of the condo (pretty traditional), but made sure to use clean lines to keep it contemporary. We are still finalizing a few things, so any comments would be much appreciated! The before pics are posted toward the end so you can see what we had to deal with :), Kitchens Design

  • Stainless Steel, Black, and White, Here are some key features that may make my new kitchen a 5 Star. The cabinets are custom made of Maple, painted in Restoration Hardware white. The inset Shaker style door fronts are patterned after the original build-in's from the hallway. All the Kitchen walls are covered from floor to ceiling in subway tiles to create that professional feel. Making it modern and contemporary are Refrigeration and Double Drawer dishwasher with flat fronts from Fisher & Paykel. The food is cook with this “Built like a tank” 36” wide commercial grade Jade Range with a center griddle and 21" backsplash with shelf. Alleviating the heat generated by the handsome stove is a KitchenAid Architecture Series hood capable of completely renewing the air in the kitchen in 2 minutes! Water usage is control by a chrome Fairfax series Kohler faucet. Capping out the countertops is Square-Edged Black Galaxy Granite from Brazil. , Kitchens Design
