This mural includes children's songs, fables, nursery rhymes, and tons of tiny critters and animals to keep a baby entertained. I created this nursery for my first born son Reed. I was 8 months pregnant when I began painting it. This was my favorite project because it was the first time I got to create a project for my own child.

My husband and I are expecting our first child a girl named Tinsley in about 9 weeks. We decorated the room in bright green pinks and white. The bedding is called Paisley Park by Trend Lab and the furniture is the Isabella Built to Grow collection by Young America. Thanks for looking!!

When my husband and I found out we were having a little girl, my wheels immediately started spinning and construction began! I have always loved wainscot, so that was the first DIY project my husband tackled. I maximized space by setting the armoire caddy-corner with a changing station to the left and the crib directly on the opposing wall. The glider and ottoman is also caddy corner next to the changing station. I found an antique mahogany two-tier table with scallop edging from Craigslist -$50- and refinished it in a black pearl stain with gold etching and tulip flowers with the letter M for Baby Madison. The picture-in-picture was a design inspiration that my mom found in an interior decor magazine. We replicated the idea, wallpapering each of the inside panels bordered with molding, and placed vintage pictures that have been with my family for several years. On the 'changing station' wall, the other two picture-in-pictures have wired vintage figures of a manikin silhouette and Eiffel tower for that Parisian flare. My mother-in-law made all the bedding, drapery, and diaper hanging sack from fabric we picked out a local fabric warehouse in Buena Park, CA. The crib cornice and curtain tie backs were a great find at the Princess Canopy Shop on Etsy. They are stained in black pearl with brass/gold etching. My husband designed the M font and worked with an online wood-work company to produce the finished product at a greatly reduced price -under $40-. I bought the hanging chandelier on closeout with black shades and matching pink bows were tied using the leftover pink satin bedding fabric. The furniture is by Munire, purchased at USA Baby and the lamp was purchased on clearance at Tuesday Morning -$50-. I shopped around for the rug after finding that on an interior design website, I bought it for 50% less than retail from BoldRugs.com after they price matched another competitors price. The crib mobile was purchased on target.com.

After moving cross country it took a while to change a pretty but fairly sterile third-floor apartment into a home that evoked a warm vintage-feminine but elegant cottage feel. On a working girl's budget I opt for super sales. The silver fleur de lis on the mantle is one of my utmost favorite pieces that I bought for only five dollars. The floral box with a tassel was a soap box filled with French-milled soap I picked up for less than five dollars.

This isn't a very large space. It isn't even really a bedroom, more like a landing between our master bedroom and the kitchen. The location in the house is why we have tried to transfrom this space as a nursery...otherwise it would have been at the other end of the house. We have only Fresh Air paint that doesn't have any VOC's. We have tried to be conscious of the materials used in this space.

Our nursery has a tan / brown / blue color theme with white accents. The crib and dresser are solid mahogany with an oak finish. Striped walls are done in a satin finish paint.

This nursery was quite the project. I made and painted almost everything in this room. I still have a few personal touches to add. I just hope that littlest loves it!!

My wife and I wanted to create a Yankee themed nursery that displayed both the Yankee’s Pride and Class. I have envisioned the Stadium Mural for the past 12 years and now that we are expecting our third child and 1st son, I was finally able to bring my vision to life. The pin strips were my wife’s idea. The angles are little Bears wearing Yankee Great jerseys- 3 Babe Ruth, 4 Lou Gehrig, 5 Joe DiMaggio, 7 Micky Mantle, 8 Yogi Berra, 15 Thurman Munson, 44 Reggie Jackson and the one frontal view is 23 Don Mattingly. We chose Bears because our last name is Baer.
We chose to put Yankee Stadium in the clouds because last year was the Final Season for the “House That Ruth Built” and now it symbolizes Yankee Heaven to all the Yankee Greats.
The Jersey Mural is located on the inside panel of the closet door. We chose #2 because Derek Jeter is our favorite player and I added a little extra touch my putting my son’s last name “Baer” across the top.
All the murals were painted by free hand. This is the first detailed mural I have ever tried to paint. Most of my artwork before this was pencil, pen and paper. I still have to finish the lower part of the jersey and we are planning on adding a few more pieces of art on the walls, but beside that it is pretty much finished. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!
