  • A living room with only the bare essentials ... makes for a very sad little space., I have no style, that much is apparent. I have all these ideas in my head of how I would love to have my living room look, but without the money to do it, my poor living room is just a place to sit and that is it. I have no idea what kind of paint colors or techniquest to use, what type of window coverings to put on the picture window and as for the furniture, it is a yardsale find that could use a good slipcover! Any advice on any of the above would be much appreciated! I want a place for my family to hang out together, not just pass through on the way to another room with more personality!, Living Rooms Design

  • Formal Dining - was 3rd bedroom/den (flex space), This space is very exciting - just to the left of the entryway and has a walk in closet, double doors and a wet bar! Crazy bedroom with the giant window right out front but a very nice den or - in my case - a great formal dining space that I can also use for any small "business" meetings I might want to hold in my home. As it shapes up I'll post new pic and would be very interetsed in any new ideas that come up! Color scheme (paint, accessories, etc) will be bronze, ivory, taupe & aqua). Of course, as I can afford to I'll be remodeling the wet bar (anyone have experience with some of the new alternatives to granite for couters - I'm sort of "over" granite!), and putting in a wall-mounted flat sreen TV for viewing business presentations. The wall art will be replaced with something more updated. The buffet will also be replaced with something more substantial and appropriate. The walk-in closet becomes a small office space for a home network hub, wireless printer, etc. All ideas, suggestions & comments welcome and thanks so much!!!, Dining Rooms Design

  • Inexpensive (But time-consuming) Kitchen Re-Do, Our kitchen remodel started in the Fall of 2006. It has been a very long process. We learned how to DIY just about everything. We hired out nothing. After appliances, furniture, and building materials and decorations- we have about $4000 invested.

Thank you to Mom for sewing the curtains- they finish the project.

Thank You Uncle Micheal for doing the backsplash. It took him a very long time- and he did an awsome job!, Kitchens Design

  • SPA 4 TWO, This husband and wife duo designed a total renovation of their outdated master bathroom, utilizing the existing space in a room that measures 10 feet by 14 feet. They served as general contractors for the project, hired the subcontractors, and selected all of the materials, fixtures, and finishes.

The new space is anchored by a gleaming biscuit Sanijet tub in the center of the room. The picture window has a remote-controlled pleated shade by Hunter Douglas.

Left of the tub is the wife's vanity with an undermount sink and storage cabinets both above and below the countertop. Opposite the vanity is a much larger, fully tiled shower with an art glass door made by Cardinal.

A private toilet room right of the tub was enlarged and houses a new sedona beige Toto toilet. The rest of the space right of the tub contains an 84-inch storage cabinet as well as the husband's vanity, which mirrors the wife's.

Cabinetry is antique white maple made by Mid Continent Cabinetry. With only one window in the room, lighting was improved by the choice of white cabinetry, the addition of a halogen light fixture in the shower, and the application of pale wall paint (Benjamin Moore's October Sky).

Biscuit sinks are Kohler Caxton. Granite is Giallo Fiorito. Fixtures are Moen Icon. Sconces are from Forecast Uptown Collection. Beveled mirrors were custom made by a local glass company.

Floor and wall tile are Marazzi Artea glazed porcelain tile in Cappuccino and Antico with Stella Listelli accent stripe. Shower floor is American Olean ceramic Lyndhurst Woodland mosaic tile.

The FlexTherm floor heating system is controlled by a programmable wall thermostat.

The subcontractors executed the design plan perfectly, and the homeowners are now enjoying a dreamy spa bathroom., Bathrooms Design

  • My tiny apartment living room, This is a small apartment living room. I do not intend on painting the walls, as I am awful at choosing color, and the carpet is going to stay. But I need furniture arrangement ideas. I was thinking about putting chairs by the window as there is an excellent view, but I'm not sure it will look right. Also, I'm debating on getting a real sofa. I lived in a studio apartment for the last 7 years, so I am not used to having a regular living space.... yikes! BTW, the curtains are a bit funky, but I wanted to be playful..., Living Rooms Design

  • Contemporary On The Way - Not Quite There, I am in the process of redoing this room I need a large rug not sure about the color. The room is very large 19' x 22' I can't decide about the chair does it work or not? I'm leaning towards changing it. The hardwood is very light and all the wood pieces are black. I need to put art in the frames and trim and paint the new door we just installed behind the sofa. Any suggestions are welcome. Sorry about all the pictures but I couldn't fit the whole room in just a couple., Living Rooms Design
