This has been a very tough descision to make..I do not like to pick colors, escpecially when they will be on the home for 30+ yrs hopefully.. The roof we had put on the house in 1999..And it is brown,,(thinking should have been different anyways, that limits choices of colors..THE COLORS WE PICKED WILL BE A WICKER FOR HOUSE, ALMOND FOR THE TRIM AND TRIM PIECES, AND BLACK SHUTTERS FOR THE TOP WINDOW.And a crown above the window to match the rest of the windows but in almond..IT WILL ONLY BE THE TOP AND THE DORMERS TO BE SIDED RIGHT NOW!Due to money constrants,Baby steps..We picked Mastic Brentwood siding If we do not get to siding next yr..I will paint the other parts..Except the back which definetley needs to be sided..Way to tall.. I will post pics when done..

This is my roof deck in Philadelphia, PA. I wanted a space that I could actually grow veggies and such but still use it as an entertaining space, this is the result.

This is my old Victorian farmhouse redo. It's a sort of recycled repurposed story. The colors I chose were from Pratt and Lambert paint. The roof is a steel cedar shake molded interlock system with a copper finish. The weather vane and lightning rods are all copper with glass globes.

When we talk about blending home and garden this is a perfect example.
Drawing on California's Spanish Colonial architectural heritage, the garden works to enhance the architecture of the home. The plants, common to the Mediterranean, are both colorful and drought tolerant. The use of wrought iron is a tradition directly from the Old World. It is timeless, durable and looks like jewelry.
We live in the city! Our backyard is another building. Except a small patch of grass in the front of our house...we have no yard at all! So we took over the roof! We planters in containers! The lower roof area is devoted to vegetable gardening. The upper area is for relaxing and perennial plants. Besides flowers we have fruit trees, grape vines and more! We have a seating area and a dining area. Eventually we will add a pergola for the wisteria and winter hardy kiwi vines to climb. We added a drip watering system this year!

I am blessed with a 56 ft outdoor terrace. the problem is it is only 7 1/2 ft wide along most of it. The area off the living room opens to 10 1/2 ft X 11 ft. Still, it's a challenge. The wood floor already existed and could not be changed (I rent. I am also not allowed to put any anchors in the brick walls or overhang. All in all, I feel it's not bad. And the 15th floor views are spectacular!

The pool/spa was custom made in N. California trucked to Dallas then craned onto the roof. Once in place the deck was built up around it. There is also an outdoor kitchen with grill burners sink and refrigerator. Also speakers all around and a TV allowing for listening to music or watching TV from the spa pool lounge sofas kitchen/bar. Still have landscaping to go but very happy so far!

My front porch has 5 separate spaces. It's also in desperate need of some love. With a sagging wooden floor in 3 different areas, a roof that floods the 2 terra cotta (and hence the 3 wooden areas, and few working fixtures, it needs a makeover!

My husband and I bought this home in 1998 with our two boys..Since than we have added a completley new roof, soffits, gutters, and are replacing all the windows with colonial grids windows..But also we had someone build on the porch.(which is by far my favorite thing .The house was built in 1860 than they jacked up the house and added the basement and the entire upper part of the structure in the 1940's... Well now after years of trying to paint this I am ready for vinyl siding..My problem is what colors would look good on this old home???I was thinking of having clapboard or shakes vinyl siding either in the greens, yellows or tans family with almond trim that would look like what is on the bottom windows .. And shutters on the top window.. We are only doing the top above the porch and the two dormers for now ..I may paint the rest of the home next summer..Either the same shade or a complimentary one?? Any advice is appreciated..It is such a hard choice to make..

This room is an addition that the previous owners put on. They added in this strange indoor roof with some ugly wood walls and I just don't know what to do with it. Obviously the pink carpet needs to go as well. Ideas?
