• A Completed Space, A move to the beach required an up date with my furniture. My chair and ottoman had an art deco leaf pattern which did not match the soft colors of the new living room. I found some great fabric, however I couldn't find anyone to do the work. It was time to take a crash course in upholstering! I took pictures of the detailed areas then took all the fabric off. I used it as a pattern and just started cutting. I made the welting and a pillow also. I learned that if you really want the change you can do it!
I love my completed living room., Living Rooms Design

 • Living room, Reupholstered old tired living room chair. Sometimes we get so used to our furniture that we don’t notice how old and tired it really has become. This chair was given to me twenty years ago by my mother in law. I liked the lines of the chair, but not the old fashioned tapestry. Never one to add to the landfill when a piece of furniture can be repurposed a project was begun; I ripped it apart carefully to use the old covers as patterns. Then I sanded and refreshed the wood with some stain. I also added a light polyurethane coating. I had a bolt of beautiful gold fabric I had bought for $5 at a close out sale at a local reupohlstery shop this summer. I used the old covering for my pattern, and then used it for additional support under the new fabric. The fabric was attached with a staple gun and lots of staples! Then trim to cover the staples with a glue gun. An inexpensive project with dramatic results! , Other Spaces Design

 • Love my new couch, I painted my curtains and you can read here how I did it:

If the link doesn't work and it says link doesn't exist on the blog, IT DOES EXIST. Just copy and paste it into the browser and it will work. I don't know why that happens sometimes. (The link adds a

at the end of the webaddress, you can also just delete that and it'll take you to the tutorial)

I finally purchased a new couch and I love it. The couch is the Claudia Sofa from Macy's.
Now I'm still on the hunt for a new coffee table. I'm kind of getting sick of my ottoman which I had only bought because my kids were toddlers and I didn't want them to get hurt on hard edges and corners.
For the coffee table I think I will go with a gold Hollywood Regency table or a modern chrome and marble top table. Lets see what I can find in an affordable option.
A lot of people always ask me why I have light colored flooring even though that the trend is to go really dark. The reason is dust and dirt! Most of my friends that have dark floors go crazy trying to keep their dark hardwood floors looking clean. I don't, because you can't see the dust and cat hair from 4 cats as much. That is also the reason why I have a traditional persian style area rug. I actually would much rather have a graphic patterned rug but they are hard to keep clean again. I've tried other rugs before. The pattern of my rug is forgiving!
That is the reason why I have the ikea pillows. They are easy to wash and keep clean. And if one is ruined, they are cheap and easy to replace.
I guess I'd rather compromise with my large busy family. Two kids and four cats do make a lot of dirt but my house mostly looks clean! , Living Rooms Design
