It's been a while since I've posted here. But here's an update on my space. Changed a few things. New rug, new "X" style ottomans, new round mirror and moved a few things around. Today's the first day of December so I'll be putting up my holiday decor later.
Almost there. Still looking for the right rug. After 35 years we sold some of our antiques and changed the look of our living room and dining room. We like the new look.

I decided to use a mix of my favorite design styles....Old World Tuscan and Mediterranean....to decorate this basement living/dining room (and soon to be- officespace. I also injected a little bit of Moroccan Indian and Indonesian influences into this entertainment space.....for a little bit of SPICE! It's still a work in progress...just wanted some input on how I'm doing so far!!

A room transformed by removing the carpet and staining the concrete. Much of the furniture was re-claimed, re-purposed, or recycled. Rich colors used to help accent the flooring on the bed/ couch. Plush sitting area created with various prints and styles of pillows on the couch and the great little ottomans for additional seating.

Nakoda's Nest is a nursery for our new baby girl. The room was inspired by birds and the bird cage that we converted into a lamp. We wanted to create a space that a little girl could grow in to.

A move to the beach required an up date with my furniture. My chair and ottoman had an art deco leaf pattern which did not match the soft colors of the new living room. I found some great fabric, however I couldn't find anyone to do the work. It was time to take a crash course in upholstering! I took pictures of the detailed areas then took all the fabric off. I used it as a pattern and just started cutting. I made the welting and a pillow also. I learned that if you really want the change you can do it!
I love my completed living room.

We did this room on a very small budget, re-purposing mostly thrift store finds, sewing our own pillows & curtains, making the Chevron art and Peacock Gallery Wall art, painting an accent wall...you can see the full makeover and How-To on our blog at http://www.livelovediy.com/2012/03/diy-chevron-art-and-peacock-gallery.html

We designed this fresh and colorful nursery for our (soon-to-be baby boy. We choose to use lots of color and patterns in the space against a calm grey and white backdrop. The result is a space that is both calming and stimulating, relaxing and energizing.
Redecorating the family room and looking for comments on this space. Please let me know if you think the leather coffee table / ottoman looks out of place with the leather chair and ottoman that it is near? Or do you think a wood coffee table would look better? Also - do these eterge shelving units looks too "dated"? Thanks for any suggestions!

I just decorated this living room area. Before the makeover I only had the leather couches and zebra armchair.
I moved those couches closer to my fireplace and one of them are parallel to the fireplace instead of the big screen TV. Do you think my living room looks too crowded? or too much color? Or is it missing something?

This is my living room. This room has 5 doorways, one window and a fireplace. We have not used the fireplace (yet. We live in a very, very warm place. As you can see we have a large tv that could be mounted on the wall or over the fp. I just painted the walls SW accessible beige. The doorways are from the entryway, the hallway to the bedrooms, the masterbed room door, the door to the back yard/patio, and the doorway to the kitchen/breakfast room. It seems like the living room is one large traffic pattern! Every way I have tried the furniture you feel like you are going through a maze to get to the bathroom, bedrooms, etc. I like the light paint, dark furniture and I know that I need all of the extras and accessories. I don't want to buy anything until I can find a layout that will work. I think you can see that I have an espresso leather couch, chair and ottoman. Lay out ideas are needed!! Thanks.

This is my large formal living room. I am looking for some help on choosing a paint colour because I think it needs to be warmed up or at least livend up. I would also appreciate design or layout tips if anyone has suggestions.

Our coffee table was looking blah and I was wanting to add some pattern to our living room, so my husband and I turned our coffee table into an ottoman.

I made these shades yesterday and the ottoman a few days ago. The shades were super simple but the ottoman was a little harder. It's good for a first try but I'm hoping to do a better job on the next one I try.
