I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter's nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to "Gray and Yellow" theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl's room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and 'thinking too much'. I think I was able to get to it finally!
I got my inspiration from all the beautiful projects that have been submitted already. I had previously done my son's room, and I also wanted Ayana's room to be as pretty as she herself is.

These are a few photos of Elwen's Nursery after decorating in anticipation of a new addition to our family and we especially love our new Wall Sticker Tree and Name from Vinyl Impression in the UK.
The space is very different as it is a loft conversion the ceiling slopes, but we have grown to love it, and having recently decorated it we are in love with the new space, and Elwen Loves it too.
I had so much fun decorating the nursery for my daughter. I used the corner tree with birds as the focal point of the room and tried to incorporate birdies throughout. I glued a birdhouse to the top of a coatrack so she can someday hang purses, scarfs, bookbags and hairbows from here. The "dream" decal above her crib also has a bird on it. And the bedding is just all around girly and completes the look I was going for.

You can be so creative with paint, wall decals, painted furniture and a little creativity! We were on a tight budget and most everything was reused, repainted, or made from scratch. I love that this room could be for either a boy or a girl, and that my little girl can grow with the room (as its not too baby-ish.

I was trying to create a whimsical and peaceful atmosphere; something a little out of the ordinary. Thinking back as a child, I wanted to bring imagination to life!

I wanted to create something pretty comfortable and classic. My talented father-in-law built the round crib and changing table out of Maple. My mother-in-law made the classic white and pink round crib bedding with sheer white ribbon ties. I am still looking for something to put on the walls around the crib (or above it. And I'm still looking for something on the wall above the changing table. Any suggestions on those two things are welcome!

Before our first child was born, we struggled with choosing a theme for the nursery. We went with the gender neutral color, pale sage green. The nursery's best feature is the wall design that was created with letter stencils. The design is comprised of the letters of mine and my husband's name, along the year our first child was to be born. We arranged the huge letter stencils on the wall and painted them different shades of green. It came out awesome! We chose chocolate brown furniture for the rocking chair and the cutest convertible crib we could find.

After creating a gender neutral nursery for our baby in our old hose, we moved and had our first child, a baby boy!! Well I created a new nursery based on the bedding we chose. I had painted canvases featuring the animals from the bedding itself and painted the walls and trim to match the sheets. Along with his name above the crib we hung a few shelves for his stuffed animals.

We went with a froggie-duck theme for our first son's nursery and ajoining bathroom. I think it really turned out great. My husband painted the room and trim.

A work in progress... The nursery is for our baby girl Joselyn born on November 2nd 2007. The nusery colors were inspired by the Pottery Barn bedding which I HAD to have. We wanted something girly but not too pink not too frilly and definitely inexpensive. The wall squares were my husband's idea... I designed Joselyn's name and the butterfly collection on the wall. It's cheery and peaceful at the same time!

This room started out without a theme. I bought a 4-in-1 crib and changing table that doubles as a dresser/bookshelf so it could grow with my son. I wanted the basic colors (red, blue, yellow, green and somewhat vintage touches. When I got the room done, I realized it was in fact a transportation room more so that anything else. So be it. What little boy doesn't like cars, trains, and planes.. right?

This is our little girl's room. With furniture from USA Baby professional painting lighting from IKEA to butterflies and flowers from Bugs-n-Blooms and hand-made curtains we put this room together in just a few weeks. We started with the wall squares and the rest of the room took shape from there.
