We opted for a neutral basis for our first nursery. We wanted the main pieces to be able to grow up with our family instead of quickly becoming outdated.
Once we found out that we were having a girl we added the pops of color-peachy/pink and buttery yellow.
We kept the room traditional with a touch of vintage or modern country as I call it.

Our daughter's contemporary nursery inspired by mid century modern design and sustainable elements.
My objective for designing this room was to create a kid-friendly environment that would reflect a youthful energy and transition well as our daughter grows older. White walls and furniture serve as a clean canvas to showcase a spectrum of vibrant colors throughout the room. The number collage, framed alphabet art, and roller coaster print are pieces reminiscent of childhood, but with urban appeal. Bold, colorful fabrics with contemporary patterns are mixed and matched to keep it fun.

We decided to wait to find out the sex of our baby until the birth, so we needed a neutral nursery. We knew we wanted a forest theme but the challenge was to make it welcoming for a boy or girl. Well, we had a boy!

This is a nursery we designed before our little girl was born (we didn't find out her sex before her birth so we kept it neutral. We moved since then, so I'll post the new nursery once it's done.

Like many we're on a budget and basically everything in the room is repurposed. The book shelf was my mom's when she was a girl the crib and changer were passed along by some good friends the rocker was used by my MIL to rock my husband as a baby (and was lovingly refinished by her with paint and hand made cushions my mother made the lambie lamp for me as a baby and the red lamp was in my little brother's room when he was a kid.

A beautiful blue and white gender neutral nursery that was pushed into the direction of a baby boy's room once our son was born. We didn't know what were having so we unexpectedly painted the walls blue. Most of the fixtures - including the chandelier and furniture - are more on the feminine side to balance out the blue walls. The bedding is white. We added in much more boy once our son was born. If he had been a girl, we would have added a lot of pink. And if we have a girl next time, we can still use this nursery!

This is a shared room for our 2 year old son and unborn baby. We are not finding out the sex until he/she is born (Our Due date is Jan 1, 2010 so we needed to go neutral but we also had a problem. We downsized from a house to an apt. (temporarily so we also wanted to fit in our son's current blue/brown nursery theme. We decided to go sage/brown for the new baby and keep the blue/brown for our son. We tried our best to combine all the colors yet not make it busy.
We did take a lot of short cuts because this is a rental and there are things I would love to do that we just can't. We did paint the room...we picked a green from the Bedding Set. The floors were refinished before we moved in and we still need Nicer Black out shades.

We are expecting out first child due Jan. 7th. Since we are not finding out the sex of the baby we had to design the nursery as a gender neutral room. We chose sage green and brown as our 2 main colors. We spruced it up with wall art and a wall decal above the crib.

I wanted to create a calming and clean nursery for my baby boy but wanted it also to remain somewhat gender neutral for a future brother or sister to use soon after.

I so enjoyed designing my first baby's nursery. I really can't get into the typical baby-look, and am a lover of neutrals and transitional style - so here's what I wound up with! I wanted it to be soft and snuggly, serene and (mostly neutral - a space that's calming to both my husband and me, but also to our little one. Feeling relaxed, organized and refreshed in the space were very important so a combination of style and de-cluttering storage were key in my planning/design.

This is the smallest room in our house so it was a challenge to put a room together with so little space to work with. We also didn't know the sex of our baby so I tried to be as neutral as I could.
