My living room is the room you walk into when you enter my house. It's also next to an area that used to be an outdoor porch.(it should have stayed that way It is wasted space and It gets in the way of making a cozy living room. I feel like it needs a focal point and I need better window treatments. I really want it to be an awesome sight when you first walk through my door. Help!!!!! I would love to try and configure the room better, the couch covers the window somewhat and the tables on ether side are kind of large. What do you think??? Suggestions?

My intent was to create a peaceful and romantic space for my husband and I. For photographs I used only pictures of him and I (left out our beautiful baby boy who's pictures have taken over the rest of the house and used decor items from our wedding such as our champagne classes, wedding book, wedding pictures, and my cherished Jimmy choo wedding shoes.I also wanted the space to feel peaceful so I decided on monochromatic and relaxing colors. We are happy with the result, it feels romantic and peaceful! Thank you for taking the time to look at our room! Also I just started a blog at peacefulhomedecor.blogsopt.com I just started it so its sparse but I would love some visitors! :
This monochromatic great room, comprised of a bright kitchen and warm family room, is ideal for everyday living as well as entertaining. The wood detailing, including distressed planked flooring and beautiful finished carpentry, make this room a treat for the eyes.

Mid Century not so modern house transformed with opened living room area. Fantastic sunset deck view of mountains and city, low windows allow from view from the couch. The off center fireplace challenged the flat screen installation, but we arrived at a compromised solution. The fireplace surround and lower bricks aren't to our liking...might consider stainless steel. We like a clean, timeless look.

I was inspired by Candice Olsen to transform our bedroom into a comfortable monochromatic "hotel" like suite. We took out the existing ceiling and created a coffered ceiling, added bookcases and a fireplace.

I don't have too many pic's of this rm. yet as it is a work in progress. I just finished this portion up a few wks. ago. I am currently considering ordering Colonial Spa fabric by Magnolia for curtains to pull in the blue gray color from our office and tie in more of the other blue accents.

Taking an old kitchen and bringing it up to date in appearance and function. A great solution to updating old bricks to a stylish glow. Inside counter outlets for pencil sharpeners and phone answering machines. Using upper cupboards at floor level to gain storage in limited floor space.

We have a large enclosed porch (some people refer to it as a solarium. Half of it is a sitting room/the other half a small gym. We used creme cafe & deep jacobean as our palette (monochromatic. The feeling of the space is crisp and modern.

The room is done in shades of white grey and browns. There is a bit of metallic to make it lean to the contemporary style however I think it's a pretty classic style. I made the wall piece in the background. I like accessorizing with silver. Most of my accessories have been removed or broken because of my children. The fireplace was originally painted all dark brown. Then I did a decorative paint treatment in silver champagne metallics to break up the huge amount of dark trim.

Redo of bedroom. Wanted to brighten up the room, changed from warm and neutral to bright and airy by using monochromatic colors with grey, white and silver.

This is our Master Bedroom and Bathroom. When we first began our make-over these rooms were standard builder issue ~ white tile and beige carpet in the bathroom. We became our own contractors and ripped everything down to the studs, went to the slab yard to pick out our marble for our sinks, backsplashes and redesigned tub/shower seat. We decided to stay monochromatic so we went with a stone, which was matte, for the floor and shower walls/floor.
I am so amazed at my husband's tile and woodworking! With not training to speak of he has done this whole project 100% on his own (believe me his career is nowhere close to this field!.
We are now done with all the "bones" of our room and just need the finishing touches. One of my dilemas is deciding if I want a chandelier in the bedroom or "barrel" hanging lamp. Next I need to decide on drapes and rods. I was thinking dupioni silk in a rich gold tone.
Anyone have any suggesitons???

The living room is large, but dark due to all of the dark woodwork. My husband was opposed to painting the woodwork, so I tried to lighten it up by using beige. I'm curious if it is boring.
